So tonight I was practicing climbing with some muddy pro sticks I just bought a couple weeks ago. I stepped on the top step of my second stick and it didn't feel stable at all. So I climbed down and found this (picture attached).

I emailed muddy and hopefully can get this figured out. Kinda bumbed because I was relying on these sticks to be my climbing method this year. Just a good reminder to go slow and be careful.

That is definitely no bueno! You're the second person that I know of that had some significant problems with their muddy sticks. Glad you didn't get hurt.

See my post muddy sticks didn’t impress me, I just posted update in there. My sticks came not usable and Muddy finally emailed and said they would send me another set. New set is just as untrustworthy. Stuff missing, nuts not even tightened down. I’m not happy. These are not worth the money in my opinion after two attempts I gave them. Quality control is non existence, I smell a lawsuit or recall happening.

Wow looks from a few members' posts like the 2018 batch of Muddy sticks has some serious chinese QC issues. Is this stuff popping up on the other forums at all?

I’m glad that didn’t result in a fall. I’m sure muddy will attempt to make it right but I would have a difficult time having confidence in them. I think if I go to another aluminum climbing stick it will be one of the diy versions on here with fixed double steps.

Glad you didn't get hurt. I have a set of old lonewolf sticks that were made in the USA and 10 Wild Edge steps. I was thinking about getting a set of Muddy pro sticks but after some of the things I've heard about them I passed on buying them I'll stick with what I know.

Did you end up keeping the second set? I'm hoping I can return them and get my money back. Just don't feel I can trust the muddy pro stick to be my main climbing method

Shoot me a pm. I have 3 full length hawk heliums with versa buttons and rope. You throw me $30 bills plus the shipping there yours. They have never failed me. Im not using these ones as i cut my other set down. If your interested though I don’t need to have a fellow saddler in distress at this time of year before the season starts.

I'll have to try to find the thread but there was bolts with no threads and I want to say some of the parts were different thicknesses. I don't remember exactly. It was just bad quality control for sure.

The other thread was form me, I don’t know how to link to it, Muddy pro sticks didn’t impress me I think it was called. My replacement set wasn’t much better. They offered to sell me the first incomplete set for a discount.

Judging from what I saw they should have offered to give you all your money back and let you keep them considering they were not in safe working condition. I hate to talk smack about a company that I'm not personally dealing with but it looks to me that they have some serious quality control issues they need to address before somebody gets seriously hurt. Makes me glad I bought helium's.

I have had a set of muddy sticks since 2012 and have had absolutely no problem with them.
