My Franken-Saddle Reveal

I got my summit out today figured I needed to use it or sell it. I climbed a tree and sat down and then this

Yep both straps on one side ripped. So be aware. My stand is old and been in the sun.

Dang that’s crazy! Yeah mine has stayed inside it’s whole life. And I’m always attached to a harness in case something just like this happens! Glad you weren’t hurt or anything, I bet it had a bit of pucker factor to it though!

Well I finally got to test out the Franken-saddle! It was great!! I need to refigure some things in the waist area though. Between the RC harness and the saddle contraption it’s really busy around the waist. Seems like things bind up and get in the way, but as far as the comfort goes, IT WAS GREAT!! I took some pics, I’ll post them shortly

Ok so let’s see if I can explain some stuff, my back rest, is a shoulder strap from a Yeti Hopper bag cooler. It serves double duty, I use it to carry my hawk helium sticks in. The paracord on the strap is what I use to wrap around the sticks, I just ran it through a nylon webbing loop I keep on my carabiner for my bridge. I use the webbing loop as a handle if I need to lift my weight up to reposition my saddle and stuff. I can barely grab the rope with my hand with gloves on, the webbing handle is much better. My bridge has a ropeman on it because it’s my linesman belt also. I climb up with linesman belt. Tie off tether to tree. Clip my RC harness in on a prussik and tighten. Let off linesman belt. Clip linesman belt in position for bridge. I keep the excess rope tucked in the bag on the side of my contraption, keeps them from dangling around. It all worked as planned, and was really comfy. Other than the 964 straps that end up around my waist area. I’ll see what I can do this week to clean it up a bit. Overall really happy with it.

Ok so I made some changes... this setup seemed to cluttered to me. Comfy, but slightly aggravating. Well I took the seat and bags off the harness. I hooked my seat and bags to my RC harness, less cluttered but too much weight on my harness, kept trying to fall down while walking and climbing. After using this a couple times, the comfort is great... BUT... I got to say, I miss the simplicity of the sit drag... I’ll probably finish out the year with this, but I plan on getting another sit drag and making it more comfortable in the off season. Maybe even get two and put them together for more butt coverage.. I sold my sitdrag the other day(face palm... instant sellers regret). Im very wishy-washy and I’ll be happy with something for a few times and then I want to change it up again. Now I’m back to wanting to change it up again... we’ll see what happens...
