My saddle/stick package

Figured out something else cool. You can pass a few more daisy chain loops through your carabiner to pick up the slack in the tag end while on small trees.

I tied a piece of bungee to the end of my tether for pack up. Tether and bridge packed up and stays on my saddle unnoticed until I’m ready to hang it. Won’t weigh your saddle down. I’m really liking it.

It is important to never have stack in an amsteel tether. It will not give on a fall. No shock absorbing and could load your carabiners to the point of failure and jolt your bolt to serious injury.
This was a great link shared by one of our members.

How long and what size is your tether? I have been really wanting to cut down on the weight of all the ropes. When you add in 2 8 foot predator ropes (linesman and tether) plus the predator bridge it really starts to add up in weight with all the carabiners and 2 ropemans.

I have been running through weigh to cut weight. I am wanting to eliminate some carabiners, ropemans, and ropes. I have been thinking about using one predator rope for linesman then getting to height and hooking up a Amsteel whoopie while switching linesman over to tether. Plus doing to a amsteel bridge but the daisy thether could eliminate all that switching around.

Beware

Let us know how the tether works out over time. I have thought about it several times, but folks have always said on here an amsteel tether is not a good choice for various reasons. Other than abrasion from the bark, I don't see why it can't work with 1/4".

I'm very interested to see how this works out after you have tested for some time. I would live to ditch the heavier ropes and use the amsteel as a tether.

Looks great! I built one last year to try out, but never did. I keep it my pack as a backup. The biggest wear I see on my tether is the knot it self. It's thickest part of the rope, so it rubs the tree the most. So with amsteel daisy chain you take out all knots and it's consist size thru out your tether. With should spread the wear more evenly thru out the whole system. I think it's a great idea!

Oplux is under half the weight of predator and about twice as stretchy. If you want something less harsh than full amsteel.

But then I’m back to a mechanical device or something like a Prussic. I really like the amsteel daisy chain weight, packability, and easy of connection. Just so simple. I don’t plan to have slack in my system but you never know what can happen.

More for the benefit of others who can't or won't discipline themselves to maintain a taught tether.
