Nice choices, all top of the line gear. The jammy is amazing and one of the most versatile pieces of coordage out there!I know all you fools want to shave weight. And all you other fools want to make fun of them for being unsafe, and tell them to skip the cake.
Well, sometimes we can have our cake and eat it too.
You may have seen my thread on adding an energy absorber. I went a different route than the absorbica in that thread after a little research. Below is what I've landed on. Note - even if you have no interest in the energy absorber, this tether setup without is right at 7 ounces, and fits in your pocket. All components are rated to a minimum of 22kn break strength - there are no compromises here.
Sterling Oplux 8mm rope - not cheap, and not by the foot. I may consider selling what I've got left over (roughly 40'). https://sterlingrope.com/store/work/ropes/tactical-rope/oplux-tactical
Beal Jammy Prusik - Still in awe of the strength of this little booger. https://www.libertymountain.com/products/5595/NTN17719
DMM Compact Shackle - these things are tiny and awesome - it's the connection between jammy and ripstop. https://dmmprofessional.com/Products/Alloy-Connectors/Compact-Shackles
DMM Ripstop - this is the energy absorber I landed on, that made the most sense for my application. https://dmmclimbing.com/Products/Slings-Lanyards/Ripstop
Total weight of this setup is 10.75 Ounces. My former tether was 11mm rope, 8mm prusik and same biner. It was at 12.4 ounces. Like I said - no energy absorber/shackle, and you drop to just over 7 ounces. Even with the tied loop for a girth hitch, it's still considerably more compact than my former tether.
Pics to follow. Do your homework, don't do things because some guy on the internet says it's ok. But hopefully some of the info helps someone out!
Now whyd you have to go and put that horrible autolocking biner on there and screw the beautiful setup up???Nice choices, all top of the line gear. The jammy is amazing and one of the most versatile pieces of coordage out there!

I prefer pear lockers, but you can get pretty damn light. I"d suggest a BD vaporlock as my top choice, but you can get to like 37g with a grivel plum nutHaha I have about 20 different biners. Which one do you recommend? WHo's the boss for the application?
I’ll have to order one too check it out!Hollow block is another good option here - I use one for an auto block on my rappel setup with same rope. I wanted this setup to have a the full rating of some of the bigger components. The jammy and the oplux seem to play well together.
They also breed bad habbits in my book. Once you start using them if you introduce a non auto in your system you better be squeeze checking everything, cause you'll forget. And as the autos get used, they will often close quicker than the lock and auto rotate and end up half locked....
Might be interested in your leftover OpLuxI know all you fools want to shave weight. And all you other fools want to make fun of them for being unsafe, and tell them to skip the cake.

What size Beal Jammy did you go with?
Sorry guys, I sold all the leftover oplux. I heard that EWO was gonna stock it, and sell by the foot.
Eastern Woods OutdoorsWhat is EWO?
@kyler1945 - have you tried it with the Safeguard/Lifeguard for SRT?Can you SRT climb with this rope since it is 8mm? Does the madrock lifeguard and hand ascender work with 8mm?
