First this community is impressive. I have been researching saddles for several months and this site has been a huge help. I have decided to jump in and am trying to split hairs between the Kestrel (size 2 )and the Mantis (XL). Fit/comfort is my biggest concern, I'm a bigger guy 40 inch waist, 270. I hunt mostly in Michigan, so cold weather clothing is also a factor. Looking for suggestions other than loosing weight... I'm already working on that one.

Thanks all the help is appreciate

I'm around your same size around 300# 40" waist and I have a size 2 kestrel that fits me just right. You may have some discomfort at first but don't be afraid to play around with bridge lengths. I personally have settled on around 30" in being the most comfortable. Once you get your body in saddle shape so to speak there is no better way to hunt.

I'm 6'5 and around 285 I have 2 Aero Hunter Kestrel size 2 in them I also have owned the Mantis but sold it that's why I bought a second Kestrel and I love it and just trust me when I say it's nice to be able to call the company that you're buying from and talk to somebody. The customer service is amazing and I don't think you would be disappointed my waist is around 42 good luck on your search for the perfect saddle and God bless

6’2” 265 have a mantis xl not much help
On the difference between it and a kestrel... what I have learned this far in my short saddle career is your going to have to buy and try stuff. You can always sell what u don’t like on the forms.. I have been buying and selling climbing methods and finally settled on my diy cut down sticks. Good luck and have fun the little I’ve hung in my mantis this spring it’s way nicer than hauling in my assault.

6’2”, 265 and 40” waist here. Can’t help you with the comparison but I have a mantis xl and it fits great.

I was getting some hip pinch at first but seem to have alleviated that by switching my leg strap from hooking on waist belt to hooking on the lower connection point. Felt weird at first to hook it there but boy did it make a difference.

Thanks for the input that helps to have an idea before making the investment, which I feel needs to happen soon. Demand seems to be increasing, and I want to get my system up soon for plenty of practice time.
