I take my new rubber boots with to my hunting area along with a 30 gallon Sterilite latching tote while wearing rubber gloves place 1-3 pairs of new rubber boots in then fill the container with dirt, leaves and whatever ground litter I happen to pick up along with the shovel fulls of dirt place the lid on and latch it closed place it outside in my yard away from everything and everyone and forget about until next dear season.
I now own six pair of Buleys Two pair of Muck Boots and one pair of Baffins
Thay all are stored in garbage bags inside of Sterilite totes as does every other piece of hunting clothing foot wear or equipment that can absorb scent
My hunting clothing and equipment either is clean and stored in totes dirty in totes it never just lays out no where in particular
I stopped wearing leather boots bowhunting 25 years ago about the same time I made it a point to stop walking on deer trails and while walking ensuring nothing else but the soles of my shoes touched anything during my walk to and from my stand. I also make every effort to pick a rout that crosses as few deer trails if any and as a result I can not recall the last time a deer reacted let alone spooked when crossing my path I walked in on.
Effective scent control is achievable but it take a lot of effort, a lot of work much preparation and meticulous attention to detail lots of attention to details
But it works IMHO
