Sitting in the Missouri deer woods was I type, in my first home made saddle. With a background in ropes and rescue and climbing a lot of trees when I was young the promise of hunting almost any place I could find a tree without moving a large stand myself sounded awesome. 2.5 hours in and starting to figure some setup items out. So far this isn’t too bad.

Not bad at all. It will get way better when I get in a rhythm and I have some of the finer points tuned in. Just a three hour sit today, without a platform, just the top of my sticks and convenient limbs. I have been way more uncomfortable in a blind chair or a hang on

Welcome from Texas. If you liked your first sit, it just gets better. There is a bit of a learning curve, but there are lots of resources on this site and you tube for you to learn and develop your own routine

I set my 14 y/o in a tree in a home made saddle before I climbed up. It fits him because he wants to roam a bit more. He has been enjoying it so far from the texts I’ve gotten.

Welcome from coastal NC! You are heading down a rabbit hole just like the rest of us!!!

Another sit today this afternoon, making three in the saddle. Had an encounter with three does on the second that was interesting. The lead doe (who may have snuck in on me abit in a moment of distraction) spotted me, but never spooked, just got uncomfortable. Didn’t run off just changed her path and went another direction. She was almost dead downwind, so I expected her to take off but she really wanted to walk past where I was sitting, but her old doe radar was pinging. She just couldn’t make out why. Inside of 20 yards for 15 minutes or so.
