Unless they have changed the design there used to be a spring loaded deal inside that made noise as it was pulled in or out. There was some discussion on it in a thread awhile back.....kind of turned me off of it. Also, the specs said it's only a couple of ounces lighter than a Doyle's Hoist, which is dead quiet? It does appear to be smaller though....
There is a wind spring in there that can make noise if you just let the strap go with no weight on it. With any weight on it or keeping a little tension it has been quiet for me. I used it to pull up a lock on stand this weekend at my food plot that I leave for people to use. I do like the Doyles alot but it is heavy and large. Dead quiet though. There never can be the perfect solution that covers every basis can it?

Where the skys are so blue!
I'm a minimalist junkie. Carbon bolts and web tether, cut all the buckles off my kestrel, etc. To me, the Doyle's is worth the extra weight. I have climbed with everything on my back, but now I've got the Doyle's mounted to my pack and use it to pull my weapon. It adds weight, sure, but it just makes life easier.

I did not care for it at all on my saddle. Back on my treestand days it stayed mounted to the seat. Now it's zip-tied to the pack. Post season, I'd like to mount it inside the pack and run the loop through a grommet in the bottom.

I’ve used ropes over the years, they work but I’ve I’ve had issues with them like most.

I got a Doyle’s hoist and after seeing its size and weight I was a little disappointed … that is until I used it.

I didn’t like it on my saddle so I put it in the mesh side pocket of my pack, I carry sticks in the middle on the way in.

I didn’t put a hole in the mesh, I just let it feed over the top, worked great.
