A Buddy of mine AutumRider has convinced me to try a tree saddle so I'm going to give it a go this season. I've done my research read a ton on here and considering the places I like to hunt I can see the benefit to using one. I'm going with the new Aero Kestrel complete package as my first Saddle. is this a good choice? What other recommendations would you guys have before I place my order? thanks in advance

Kestrel is probably a great choice for a first saddle. The gear from New Tribe will be top-notch, so no worries there. You may want to look into using a ropeman 1 for your linemans belt and treestrap versus the blakes hitch that will come tied with your Kestrel. These are worthwhile upgrades no matter what saddle you hunt out of.

Only other recommendation I can make is to practice, practice, practice before the season starts!

The other option to look at would be a Guido's Web if you like to hunt for long periods of time. I recently got one and they are super comfortable! They are heavier but worn like a backpack it does not make a bit of difference. You also do not need as much of a platform as you are sitting and not leaning as you would be in the Kestrel.

What's the ropeman 1 and where are they available?

Go under climbing gear and then ascenders. They are available right now also. Handy little gadget used in conjunction with the tree tether and lineman's rope. It replaces the rope or cord used to make prussic knots which are used to adjust either or.

This is funny. I looked up Ropeman yesterday. Then I find this. :)

Learn to tie a purssic knot... be proud of yourself... then discover Ropeman device. :D
