Yes its in Oswego county bad. I have plenty of people posting pics of dead deer because of it and also #'s are down. I'm having a tough year seeing anything but I think that's just because I'm not on them yet for some reason...but also my cams aren't taking any pics so who knows

The SH Membership has gone live. Only SH Members have access to post in the classifieds. All members can view the classifieds. Last year in 3J it was hard to walk into the woods without finding dead deer. One afternoon I was in the tree downwind of the swamp and I thought I was going to puke from the saddle the stench of rotting flesh was so bad.
I heard one guy say something similar. I've been around and I cant smell or see any dead deer close to my areas but I don't have a lot of swamps in my spots. The one I do hunt I usually leave till they are in rut and searching because its a awesome funnel
Been on two different pieces of public with little to no acorns this year. Pretty weird… Gonna check some others this weekend.
EHD makes them head for water. We pulled a number of bucks out of the trout pond at the gun club last year. Usually bucks we have found too. Our thinking is maybe they bed in thicker areas closer to standing water, so they are in more proximity to the midges that carry the disease that the does.
Yes, the herd is getting devastated in parts of the Hudson valley. Mostly 3j and northern dutchess/Columbia area
If your area has EHD , you’re not seeing them because they’re dead. The deer population in Hudson valley area has been gutted, the last two years. Tens of thousands, even though the DEC will say differently.
Agreed. Last year was my first year hunting an orchard in Ulster. First Saturday of the season I saw nearly 40 deer. I thought I had finally reached the promised land, I've never had a spot like that before. By the following weekend we were lucky to catch a glimpse of a deer. Easy come easy go I guess...
Maybe so but I know a few people on the next property over who have deer on cams and are seeing them, I am thinking they are just shifted patterns that I am not on yet. I see tracks, rubs and scrapes so deer are there.
Finger Lakes Region is good. Been out on a few hunts seen lots of does moving round where I am at. Few small bucks moving. Found a few scrapes already. All the shooters seem to be on the trail cams a night.. *
Saw a small 6/8 point Friday morning then I didn't hunt past that because it rained like a cow pissing on a flat rock all weekend
