What did you have to do to switch out the buckle? Was it an easy swap or did you have to cut the straps that came on it?Since folks always ask about mods:
- the buckle I swapped to is an Austrialpin 1" no-sew cobra

Yes more info on the buckle mod please. Also wondering if he is going to offer this as an option in the future since it sounds like he was interested in the details.

Does this go on the strap that comes on the sling or do you have to replace the belt too? I ask because the one in the video looks wider than the one on the treehopper website.COBRA® ProStyle – Dual Adjustable – AustriAlpin

Yes, you can remove the buckle it comes with and add this one easily. If you are not concerned about load rating and just as a position option, you can find plastic buckles for $5 on Amazon that do the same thing.Does this go on the strap that comes on the sling or do you have to replace the belt too? @Longbowwally - True words! @Nutterbuster is really helpful with gear selection - I think he helps a lot of people decide what to buy and try!I ordered a Recon today - I figured since I've owned a tree suit, Guidos, Mantis and Flex I might as well try this too lol lol...I've been looking at and researching it for a couple of weeks now but Nutters video 'sent me over the edge' so to speak lol by giving me that final bit of info I needed to make a decision....
The shock cord belt is the way to go. Absolutely no doubt in my mind about that. I've tested every version of belt Mark has tried and shock cord is the best. It's an easy mod that doesn’t require any alterations to the sling. Try it and if you don't like it, then easily go back to the factory belt.I use an adjustable shock cord for a belt but I never carry anything on mine. Also I use a utilibridge made from oplux as a tether. It is the best thing I’ve ever used.
Take notice of the blood on there lol.

I thought he said in the video that he got some extra pieces from Mark to use for the belt, so I was under the impression that you'd need some additional straps as well.Yes, you can remove the buckle it comes with and add this one easily. Mark's belt comes with two pieces that fit into the rings and has a custom buckle he makes. His buckle is nice as is, but it can be easily removed and replaced with the Austrialpin. I am using a custom bungee cord belt on mine that came with it 2nd hand off the site.I thought he said in the video that he got some extra pieces from Mark to use for the belt, so I was under the impression that you'd need some additional straps as well.
Am I missing something?

The stock belt is made up of 2 sides...one side is just webbing and the other side has Mark's speed buckle. I believe Nutter has 2 pieces of the webbing side which would accommodate the Austrialpin a little better than just adding the Aust to the stock belt because you will need to cut off the speed buckle. Call Mark and ask if he will sell you a stock belt and also add in another 1/2 belt (the webbing side), then you will be able to choose which you like best. I'm not sure but you may be able to buy an Austrialpin from him...I thought I heard he was thinking about adding them to his offerings?? As always, call Mark and talk to him, he's very accommodating. Thanks for clarifying.
