Anyone one stick and saddle hunt out of a hang on? I’m going to give this a try and I’m open to ideas. I think I’m going to use backpack straps to pack my stand up while one sticking. It seems like overkill, but I want to give it a try. I like the idea of moving around the tree while being able to “literally” sit down for hours on end.
Thoughts???

Yeah I use the LWCG. 5 ,and a DIY single stick made from a flat Scout,EWO standoffs and a beast step, and a ice of 6061-T6 Aluminum. Just have to put a strap on bottom of it.

I have a 10” one stick for my saddle setup with a scout up top and a 15” EWO stick with just 2 steps for hang on.

I found it exponentially harder to one stick with weight on my back.

Second on the .5 as a saddle stand. Personally I do t like leaning much on the sides of it but it’s just fine leaning on the front edge. Being able to actually sit down if you want to is priceless! In fact if I have to, I’ll even turn around and sit backwards on the seat facing the tree. Haven’t taken a shot like that but have tried drawing back a few times. I think it would be way easy and comfortable to take a shot like this with a saddle also supporting you.

Maybe just leave the stand on the ground and haul it up once at height. What little 1-sticking experience I have suggests you'd prefer to be less encumbered while climbing.

I like your idea overall though. Been pondering it myself. Especially as I look at all the true and relative weight/bulk tradeoffs between big platforms, the JX3, various packs, etc.

Towards the end of last season i tried out one sticking with the .5 hang on and while i found climbing easy with it on my back i did not like the clunky madrock safeguard on my rappel rope once i was in my stand so i always found myself climbing with my tether then setting rappel rope up once i was ready to get down. I also hunt alot of branched trees and felt like i was constantly undoing quick link to get around branches and it was more cumbersome than just dealing with a LB and multiple sticks. While one stick/rappel is a great option for people i much prefer 2 sticks and a 3 step moveable aider.

With a JX3 you can sit for hours on end and even recline if you want to take a nap. You can also one stick with it.

I saw somewhere there is a seat coming that you strap to the tree and straddle it to sit when not in use it folds against the tree.

Would that be the rut roost from OOAL?

This is how I hunted all year and don’t see changing anything for next season. I one stick with a muddy pro with a one step aider. I climb with my Windwalker on my back and hang it once I’m at desired height. I sit most of the hunt with my bow in my lap. If I decide to stand for a little while, I hang my bow on a welding rod I made into a big hook, wrapped in self adhesive camp wrap. It’s hung on the tree with paracord. I don’t have any issues climbing with my windwalker on my back.

I struggle to imagine myself doing that 60 yards from a buck bed without him laughing hysterically at me. I also struggle to imagine how that is quieter, more stealthy and more convenient than simply slapping 4 hawk minis on a tree.

im not talking crap I’m just being real. I WANT to want to one stick. All my friends do it, I just watch these videos and my pals one sticking and think damn, that’s a lot of work, a lot of sweat, a lot of movement and a lot of noise.

The camera was setup 50 yds and deer height.

After watching that video, I'm thinking that the LWCG .5, while light, is just to big and wide compared tp say the Trophyline Mission Platform. That Mission Platform could easily be much lighter if they thinned it to be where the LWCG .5 is, that is for sure.

Not my video, but...
