One Stick & repel Setup - tether advice

Just got done putting all the pieces together to one stick and repel down. Using EWO w/ U.P. For one stick & madrock + canyon 9mm for repel rope.

What is the best tether option with this setup. Looks like people are using the repel line as their tether. Is that the easiest option? Looks like it to me and then I don’t need to bring in a separate tether rope. I was not sure if the madrock works good for this. I also have a ropeman 1 style tether that I could use. Or I guess I could even take the madrock off repel line and use the ropeman 1 during my hunt. Then put madrock back to repel down the tree.

Just use your rappel line.

Keep a second short one for going around limbs. But I suggest using a rope hitch instead of the ropeman. Less metal to ding.

Also, learn to tie the JRB auto release, way easier to get out of the tree.

That's the one!

I use a Michoacan hitch on my shirt tether, way easier to break free than a prussik but grabs well.

I have used both my rappel line and a separate tether and like the separate…..at least for now. My rappel line is in a roll up pouch and I can pull the carabiner and hitch at the end of it out and use it for a lineman’s belt going over limbs. Just throw biner around tree and connect, add a biner to hitch on the other side and you are good to go!

Learn the running jrb hitch for attaching to the tree and the cornell or soft sticht hitches for attaching your saddle.
