I work in a machine shop and we have access to tons of material, machines, and a water jet. I drew this up on AutoCAD and wanted to run it by anyone before I start on it, to see what you all thought. The bottom two images are halfway folded, and fully folded. Material would be 1x1x1/8 aluminum square tube, and 1/2 aluminum cut on the water jet for the two standoffs. I plan to use a rope mod for attaching it to the tree, and I believe if I well the bottom standoff to the top of the long horizontal tubes, it should provided a camping action, similar to the predator, when folding it down. Let me know what you think, and if anything looks like it needs to be changed. 510458245~2.png

The cross-bar on the bottom side, being right against the upright post position limits your ability to level the platform on a leaning-away tree, I would think. Not convinced that's a big deal - just an observation.

I thought about that, and originally had it spaced back some for an adjustable bolt, similar to the predator, but I would also have leave space between the lower standoff and the upright for it to be usable. I like the idea of having two opposing supports against the standoff, so I went back to this. If I decide I really need the adjustment, I'll modify as needed. Thanks for the input!

Looks pretty good to me! I love the idea so simple why didnt i think of it lol

I'm new. I'm not a platform guy.

Does this allow for the weak side shot where you simply rotate on the platform instead of work your way around the tree? I could be wrong, but it seems that you need a larger flat section to actually stand on for that.

That's what the "wings" are for on the front. I never really stand on the top of my platforms. I always have the arches of my feet on the edge and lean back. Those wings will help in side shots by giving a good corner to set my foot in without slipping off toward the front when twisting. At least that's the plan lol.

I have made three of them almost like the pic , loose the bottom stop, turn the upper stop on edge. Mine are all steel and the platform is 3/4 16 gauge tubing.

mount the upper stop to the vertical post after you turn it on edge and it will let the platform fold and still stop the tail of the platform at 90 degrees have fun I use the versa button with lone wolf stick straps

Not sure I understand what you mean by the upper stop, and turning it on edge. Do you mind elaborating?

weld the bottom stand off to the vertical than it will also be the stop for the platform .than you don't need the square stop under the platform.
