Oplux and Beal jammy (NO KONG DUCK) question

Have you tried a 4-1 Distel? It can be a tad more foolproof if a 3-1 is at the edge of OK...

I ran 4 over 1, but with the weight and the way the hitch pulls, it may look different.

In any case, I have enough slack to add another loop over the one. I am all about safety. I’ll re-evaluate next time at the tree. Thx!

Been testing the jammy Oplux combo for last couple weeks and so far so good for me. I’ve got matching tether and LB and 35mm jammy for prusik. I originally bought two mini Kong fig 8 for tenders on both LB and tether and have found that while it works great for tending my lineman belt I found it not necessary for my tether just added stuff. One question I have is anyone towing a knot below prusik for just in case. I’ve not had any slippage but still new and while sitting in my backyard hanging figured what if I tie a knot right below it on my tether. Is this safe, should I use any certain knot?

I find the jammie Prusik on my tether gets so tight I have to stand up and work the knot lose in order to adjust it. I’m afraid to use one on my lineman’s belt (rope) for that reason.

What knot are you using? A prusik will get tight. Something like a distel will release.

My prusik on tether does get pretty tight but if just unload a bit and break it free not a big deal. I’ve found that my LB doesn’t get loaded as much as the tether and adjustments are much easier. The mini Kong is money for tending this setup and wish I knew about it years ago lol.

Always have a stopper knot - at min at the end of the rope. All the better if you tie one on further up.

dunno anything about knots I pretty much just took the tether just below prusik and tied a knot. Maybe overhand? It does get tight I’m not heavy guy but I did bunch of testing at ground level and jumping off step I couldn’t get the jammy to budge, but I just got to thinking it would be quick and another safeguard.

No - is your "prusik" a prusik? There are other friction hitches that may be more user friendly.

The Jammy came as a sewn loop so Prusik is what I’m using.

Sure. Tie an overhand knot up close to the Prusik but not where it will be in your way if you need to lengthen your tether.

Yes it’s prusik. I’ve thought about buying another jammy or some trc to play with the Distel but seems there were some questioning it’s ratings once tied. My jammy both 35cm so thinking might be too short to make a distel

I use a sit drag / RCH combo. I keep a double overhand stopper knot at the end of my tether and the jammy Prussik is attached to the bridge on my sitdrag. Once I get my tether set I also tie an alpine butterfly knot below the prusik and connect that directly to my belay loop on the RCH as both a backup to the prussik but also to protect from a failure in the sitdrag and/or bridge.

Did you ever confirm if 35cm is too short? I have an extra jammy and am wanting to make a distel on my LB.

The 35cm Beal Jammy would be too short after cutting in my opinion to use as a distel hitch. Most order 3-4' of 6mm TRC or 5.5mm Beal Cordellette and I think 3' is about minimum.

I have a few extra of the 50cm beals. They are more than enough for the popular friction hitches we use.

correct. i've ordered 4 ft of each and made dandy distels.

Anyone have a picture of their sister with either the jammy or Dano’s beal cordette with a Kong mini figure 8? About to start making mine and was wondering the best way to attach the Kong to the biner and Oplux (I’m one of those visual folks)
Thanks
