Oval screw link for rappeling question

Does cross loading apply to oval screw quick links? i understand the physics of crossloading a caribiner and the danger of exposing the gate to such stress, but does it apply to an oval quicklink with no gate. Just like the Kong quick link triangle on doublesteps but oval.

Trying to decide if my oval quick links will work for rappelling (instead of girth hitching rope only) or should I just pony up the $13 for the triangle.

So it has the screwing barrel nut to close it? What is it rated for? Where did you buy it? What brand is it?

Treestuff.com has a variety of them and by there design when closed properly does away with cross loading issue.

It has screwing barrel nut. No idea on the rest. It was in the dad box so probably used for hammock applications.

The CAMP quick links all have a minor axis strength of 10kn and 25-55kn major axis strength depending on size. I won't speak to basement links. Delta links are going to be more appropriate for triaxial loading as well.

I'm interested in any guidance on any of this stuff regarding edge loading performance and appropriateness.

As I was walking down the Home Depot aisle I saw these. I would bet that’s what I found in the dad box.

I use a rap ring. 32kn at 26g

You can cross load them and rappel rings without issue, as long as they're the rated screw links for climbing.
