Got it done yesterday in the rain on public land in pa. Never heard a gobble all morning, then on the way back to the truck we struck up this bird. All came together in less than 3 min. 1in spurs 10in beard.

Badass! Those PA birds are as tough as AL and MS public’s!

This year was by far the quietest morning I’ve ever seen in the turkey woods up there. We hike in two miles to get into the birds but this year they were not there no sign either not sure what happened. Only thought was someone may have been in there youth season which started last weekend.

With the late spring and all the off weather patterns it seems that we are more behind than ahead. I’m going to KY today to try down there and I bet mid afternoons will be the key for the next few days!!

What’s your preferred method of hunting turkeys afternoon. We’re allowed to hunt afternoon mid way through the season now.

I like to try to set up somewhere between a strut zone and a Fly up area that you know. Typically I try to get out to High Point just listen for activity. Sometimes you’re just hear the scratching sometimes you’ll hear gobbles and Jake yelps, etc. but typically getting closer to a fly up area is hugely helpful and for sure in between feeding and roosting.
