Pac Seat Review

Last January I hunted near Ft. Rucker in Ozark, Alabama and I was glad I had a warm coat in my tote. It was in the 20’s in the am and windy. Warmed up to the 40’s in the afternoon. It was colder in Bama than it was back home up north.
What is this 'north' you speak of?

Yep, the ghost blind phantom pairs perfectly with the turkey pacseat. The profile of the blind folded up matches the dimensions of the chair almost perfectly, and it's just the right height that you can barely peek over the top and you really have to utilize the slots to shoot through as intended. You're very well hidden in it.

Until the wind picks up. That’s the reason I sold mine.

Bought one a while back and sold it because I thought I’d pull double duty (tree or ground) with the JX3, but turns out it’s really not good for a bow hunting chair. I have spent most of the season using a cheap 3 legged folding stool (with no back…) because I could pack it in the spotting scope pocket of my pack; however, it has essentially no comfort when compared to the PAC Seat. Placed an order for one today and got a notification that it’s already shipped.

I thought it was worth it at $300+, definitely worth it for $225 in case anyone is on the fence.

@Petrichor Any updates on your ground hunting? Is the PacSeat still working out for you? I just received mine and I'm looking forward to using it in the woods! PS: I use a trad bow as well: I'm interested in your experience with limb clearance.

Only been out for a few times. It’s amazing. I have two and will probably get turkey seat also. I won’t hunt in anything else and take it everywhere I go.

Loving mine this season. It's a beautiful way to scout your way in without all the extra bulk.

My body is riddled with arthritis so sitting on the ground thinking you can twist to make a shot is not an option for me.

Once I find good sign to place a tree set, I can come back the next day with my tree set gear.

Hasn't happened this year so far but has saved me a lot of lugging around extra gear. Plus I can make the decision if a tree set makes sense for the area.

Either way I have had success from a tree and on the ground, so I'm married to neither technique.

I told you all a while ago I would review the pac seat. And I finally feel that I am in a place to do so. Only time will tell so maybe we can revisit the longevity next off season. I am a fan of the pac seat but will attempt to be rather objective and my use with the seat has not been problem free. I want to be up front about that. But at the same time the issues are resolved and I look forward to giving you all that info too. Anyone can look up the specs of the pac seat. It weighs a little more than four pounds and until a month or two ago had a wait time of at least three months. Pac Seat made a partnership and instead of one guy making seats there are nine employees now.

While the specs are known let’s concentrate on other things for the review. The seat is 320 plus 30 shipping for an even 350. Is it worth the cost? Wait time? Accessories? Field use? Issues? resolution, and why bother hunting on the ground.

For those impatient, I love the pac seat and it will always be apart of my arsenal. Also two other things to note. One, I am not affiliated with Waldrop Pac Seat in anyway and purchased it with money I got from selling a firearm I didn’t need anymore. Two I am going to make several posts on this thread so the pictures line up with the review.

So what is a pac seat? Well it’s a seat and you can lean it or free stand it. Oh and it’s a sub five pound pack frame that can support more weight than the normal person can carry.
Any more long term updates on the pack seat? I'm really thinking of selling one of my .5 stands and trying ground hunting with my long bow. I have been practicing out of a chair and really surprised how good I'm shooting. Thanks!

Mine had a popping sound that imitated a cheap lawn chair popping. Mr Waldrop said they never had issues w/that. I sent it back after trying the spray and the wax to no avail. He put a new seat on mine along w/all new bolts, but when the box arrived in Ohio it had my repaired old seat and a new one w/no charge. I'd call that great service from a small company. "Made In America" I know it's expensive but try to get that service from a Chinese Import Shop.

Yeah both seats I have are still working great. I broke a couple of zip ties on them easy replacement and I carry zips while hunting. Still quiet still working great. Dove hunted yesterday with one and the belt acts like a typical dove belt while I’m carrying the seat. Carries shells, water bottle, game bag, dog accessories. Couldn’t be happier. Spring I want to get the turkey seat. I use them for everything btw, in my house up stairs, cookouts, ball games, fireworks, etc. can’t recommend them enough. I’ve also seen more game on the ground than I did in the air. Changing spots with the wind takes seconds not an hour.

You guys might be making me get out of a tree. I have been thinking about this more. How easy it would be to just "set up", instead of climbing up. Or at least for a morning hunt. No climbing in the dark. Might be time to sell some saddle gear and get a chair. I liked the @Red Beard idea of turkey sandwich and crossbow more and more as life gets more chaotic with the kids. Forget tunning and arrow set ups. Zero the crossbow and sit comfortably in the woods.

Just curious if anyone has had issues getting busted sitting up higher in these chairs. I’d really like to get one but sitting low to the ground has distinct advantages from a profile standpoint. Just curious what you guys have experienced.
