Any ideas on how to pack them besides a fanny pack in my backpack? Then pull the fanny pack out and put it on before ascending the tree.

The SH Membership has gone live. Only SH Members have access to post in the classifieds. All members can view the classifieds. I bought a four pack to try a while back. One thing you can do if you have a saddle with Molle Loops on the back - you can stick the step in a loop for storage while climbing. It doesn't help for packing, unless you were to put them in your loops, then roll up the saddle and pack that.
I just roll mine up and put them in a fanny pack. Never really had any issues.
