I'm no expert and I don't know where you are in all of this, but...It is my understanding that it's all about licensing agreements these days. I'm sure your not looking for a partner, but you could offer them a piece of the action and turn this situation around into a positive relationship. Just an idea...
 
When it comes to patent law you get as much justice as you have $ to throw at it pretty much.

The tone of the email I received didn't seem to leave room for that option.
 
That stinks. I can't imagine which of your products this is. Patent laws are weird and until the beast/lwcg stink I didn't realize you could patent the manufacturing process used to make a certain item. I don't know if you got a cease and desist notice from someone or a verbal threat but I would at least want the patent number so you can research it.
 
I have a friend who is a patent lawyer for a big company that rhymes with cow. I can see if he can help you out.
