Pretty sure @Huntingbob AKA Buyer Precision came up with the original milled beam shape we see elsewhere now...How many innovative features does this old Lone Wolf stand have that are the same as the Predator? I would say this might be prior art or expired patent. Top and bottom surface, front and back edge, check, oh yeah.I-beam post - innovative. Don't know what else might be.

If you search D'Acquisto in the patent finder you'll fined lots of stuff, including the patent for a cam buckle attachment for stands.
Also, look at the references cited section of a patent and you can click and see other familiar hunting stand patents that were filed.

Great point, I've got one too, the original and it certainly has "wings." It actually also has a climbing stand type cable configuration with a nylon rope so you could platform climb with it. Your platform and climber all in one simple unit. Not a new idea either as I believe I bought it from the original tree suit dude in the early 2000's. It actually works ok too but its noisy for me but like anything, if you practice, wrap some parts and refine your technique, it would be pretty workable.
In fact, I'm wondering why nobody is fabricating an adjustable platform, much like a climber where you can adjust for tree width as you ascend like a mini summit base or what would be even more interesting is telescoping support arms that ridged click in or out to adjust for tree diameter, once at HH you collapse the rigid climbing stand supports and cam buckle the platform to the tree.
I had this crazy idea about a telescoping or folding frame that would extend and lock and which would employ a webbing net (or trampoline mat or rope net) drawn tight to create a "soft platform."

Out of curiosity what happens if a company received a letter and told them to pound sand? Patent police or summons to court? As an LLC, couldn’t you just declare bankruptcy and form another company doing the same thing? My limited understanding is the purpose of an LLC is to keep the individual and business separate.
I’ve seen roofing companies “go out of business” on Friday to avoid things only to be working the next Monday under a different name. Shady but it happens.

Cracks me up when people make BS generalized comparisons between products, in reference to a platform that could be a carbon copy.
You don't have to comply with the letter. You could get sued but maybe not if the letterer decided their legal fees would be too much to try. No matter what happens then, the lawyers win.

Well, if Apple can patent "swiping gesture with finger on screen".....then we have an issue. Needs reform.
