What is it that every redneck says just before going to the emergency room? "Hold my beer and watch this"......
Kidding aside. Myself being someone new to saddle hunting but not new to hunting by various other methods, I can add that some silly mistakes or risks that I admit I may have taken are fueled by impatience. The desire to get to "expert or cool status" overnight can cloud even a typically responsible individual to rush into things or take too my shortcuts without fully realizing or understanding the risk. I.e. advanced climbing methods without sufficent practice, using pieces of gear without fully understanding how it works, or blindly modifying equipment. I'm constantly having to tell myself to think, slow down, and ask the dumb questions so as not to make the dumb mistakes.
