Platforms...ugh, I might need one...

Can you drag a deer?
yes, but I will also be within radio distance of my house and will be hunting with my father(also within radio distance) the majority of the time if I need help.

And I wont be going miles out...plan is to hunt on my own property aond 80 acre family farm based upon how my foot feels...

What everyone wants to know but afraid to ask is...
What did you say to your 5 year old that made him grab a pitchfork and do you dirty?!?!

I would try wrapping it with performance tape to stabilize the ankle and see if you can find some way to keep your weight completely off that foot like maybe sitting sideways against tree with that foot dangling freely until a game animal comes in and it's time to shoot.

I feel for you brother and wish you a speedy recovery. Best of luck to you!

Also, that sounds damn painful and hope you heal up well. Seems like it may be a year to more frequently set up in tighter cover with more limited shooting lanes. I'm honestly a tad surprised that climbing bolts (presets or drill as you climb?) isn't an issue but shooting is. I guess it's all in the flexibility? Hopefully the taping ideas help a lot...

I climb SRT and my left leg does nothing during the climb. I push with my right leg and pull with my arms.

HOnestly, I was talkign to a neighbor holding my 2 year old son, and my 5 year old was behind me playing. we had a bunch of yard tools leaning up agains the house and the pitchfork was there from stirring the compost the prior weekend. All of a sudden, sharp pain in my food....honestly thought I had been shot or something. Neighbors thought I got stung by a bee..I dropped to my knees instantly, but couldnt bend all the way down with a pitchfork stuck in my foot(my 5 year old let go after he stuck me with it) and actually dropped my 2 yer old a couple of feet off the ground( he was ok!). He was just playing with it and trying to stick it in the ground behind me, but it was just too long for him and he missed his aimed spot. I proceeded to pull the thing from my foot and bleed everywhere while my two kids are crying their eyes out and then neighbors are like ***. IT took almost an hour to get everyone calmed down, and it was dinner time, so I doused a qtip in iodine and stuck it like and inch into the puncture and swabbed around, then proceeded to make the kids dinner(after I pured myself a bourbon)My wife was on call and didnt get home till after 8pm. Our kitchen is all white cabinets and wood floor...it looked like a slaughterhouse from the blood everywhere, but I got it all done....

Thanks, I can climb, its really the maneurving aroudn the tree and stablizing myself from swinging back to tehter-center I'm having a hard time with. If it gets worse(it might, achilles injusries are known to come back and bite you) I will definintely keep SRT in mind.

Are you taking antibiotics? It might be a good idea.
IT initially happened over a month ago. I was on massive antiobotics for 2 weeks. I was giving it as much time to heal as possible before trying to figure out how to hunt. I unfortuntaely sold my LW hand climber stand at the beginning of the summer, otherwise I might be in that. Believe it or not, I have a tree lounge climber(the d shaped "Light" one coming in at 19lbs) and that might be the ticket for me this year.I just need something I can move around more, get pressure completely off my foot, sit, stand...or I"m not gong to be able to be in a tree for longer than a couple hours I'm guessing. I was thinking maybe a platform would just give me more optinos, and allow speading the weight better between feet....I dont know, honestly it just kind of sucks.

Ima offer different advice, coming from a former devil doc.
Use a ground blind this season man. Stay off it as much as possible and let it heal. Sounds like that take forever to heal and you don’t want it to heal wrong or have something nagging you for the rest of your life. Come back stronger next year. Just my thoughts

Thanks, yeah...Its pretty much killed my ski season I think. I'm a big time tele skiier and my wife was like..."yeah you're not oing ot be able to tele ski without really hurting yourself". I bought an AT setup instead...I cant sit out for ski season, we actually bought passes this year for the first time in probabyl 15 years.

I appreciate the input. I have a couple ground blinds, but they just arent effective in teh mountains where I" hunt. I might just find some blowdowns and setup some natural blinds and keep my fingers crossed...I dont know, just kind of sucks.
