Here's some videos on the Portland Landing SOA hunt my dad and I went on. One video for each day of the hunt. Dead deer in each video. Believe it or not, I cut a LOT of the jibber jabber! I plan on trying to get some new camera equipment that let's me get better hunt footage over the summer. Hard to get good, in-the-moment action footage with a hand-held phone camera.
The hunt was a blast. The scouting trip was amazingly fun, killing a big deer with my dad was fun, and going back over the footage was fun. Since I'll probably never get drawn for that parcel again, I may do a YouTube video breaking down how I scouted the property if anyone is interested. We only had a day and a half to scout and 3 days to hunt, so being aggressive and refusing to settle was definitely a big part of success. Pre-season scouting, an Eberhart-style "speed tour", and some "in-season scouting" while we were hunting was vital. We were the only 2 individuals to kill bucks out of 5 groups on that property that weekend, so I think we were able to accomplish something.
