I have a gen 1, and have faith in it. It has served me well. I NEVER toe hook it either.

I also have a Gen 2 on order. The added piece of mind that I have a backup platform in case one (god forbid) should fail is worth the money to me. Once I receive my gen 2, I will decide which one to hunt from. Plus, I will now have 2 platforms, one for hang and hunt, and one for presets. I carry different packs, depending if I am carrying sticks or not. Nice to not have to transfer gear from one pack to another.

Plus, my annual deer hunt/camp happens next week with friends. I plan on a show and tell session with saddles since some of the guys have shown interest. Hope the Gen 2 arrives in time so I can show them a comparison. No expert here, but this is my second season in the saddle, and have spent loads of money experimenting.

Hope I can sway one or two of them from the dark side lol

Got a Gen 2. Regret buying it as I got raped by UPS brokerage fees and taxes. Ended up costing me $400 CAD.... platform is nice and all but not $400 nice. I wont but anything from them again. The one guys voice bugs the heck out of me.

I'm going to try a ring of steps in the off season.

Damn. Would buying used help your foreign cause at all? I’m ignorant to the whole thing other than exchange rate.

I mean did their marketing hype just overpower you and made you think you couldn’t live without the PREDATOR?

I'm not worried about falling. I'm always tied in. I'm not the biggest fan of heights so I've always worn harnesses, ropes, etc. I'm never not tied in. I'm just a cautious consumer.

How pissed will you be if it fails while lining up the shot on a once in a lifetime buck? Can’t schedule the failure.

Yep. And how disastrous could it be if a failure happened when you are crossing over your bridge (for an off-side shot)? I'd sure hate to ram a broadhead into my eye, up a nostril, or across my throat. An "in-tree" injury can be more fatal that an actual fall.

Pretty pissed but until it happens not gonna worry about it. I use a couple ameristeps on the side so when I shoot I dont have that much pressure on it. If I worried about every little thing that could go wrong I'd never go out. So far so good.

I tried one when I went to a guys house to test saddles and liked it.

UPS charged me an additional 40% as a import fee that I had no idea was going to happen, its not really Thetrd fault that happened.

It's hard to get guys to ship a used Predaror to Canada as they have plenty of people willing to buy it south of the border.

So yeah I got kinda shafted.

In going to have some items shipped to my cousin in Texas and go down there next year for a hunt and bring it back. Duty free

I was unsure if i had gen 1 or gen 2, and thanks to everybody for posting the info on which was which and the defects in the gen 1. For anyone looking to see the difference, catman529 posted pics on Page 4 of the thread.

I went out for my first saddle hunt this morning. I was in a pine tree and it was super windy so it keep swaying back and forth especially with big gusts. No deer, but I will say it was definitely reassuring to know that i had the Gen 2 and didn't have to worry about failure in the platform in those conditions which would have been bad news bears.

I emailed them yesterday about swapping my gen 1 for a gen 2 BEFORE I had a mishaps. I received a reply that stated,

"Hello Daniel,

We will be running an exchange program in 2020 for the gen 1 platforms. I will put you on the list to receive one, but we will need to have the gen 1 returned to us and then we can send out a gen 2 for you. This program will run after season, so it shouldn't effect that. "

I am hoping they will swap this (prone to break) gen 1 for a (rightly made) gen 2 BEFORE something happens. Isn't safety more important than that?

They’re saying they’re going to do an exchange for them so that’s a big step in the right direction. I’m glad they decided to step up because I’m sure 90%+ of the gen 1’s were sold to guys from this forum. And it’s just good business.

No doubt about that. But, I do question what is better business, allowing something to break KNOWING its a flawed unit and then replacing, or replacing it BEFORE it breaks to protect both yourself and the one using it.

All this is doing for me is making sure i'm always strapped in when going to step on the platform with both lineman's and tether.
