Product Accountability

And that's part of the reason tethrd isn't going to be sending them any more products to try out or pay them to do a review of them. Would be nice if the same person could review all the saddles and another all the sticks and so forth and have no involvement whatsoever with any brand and just compare them all against each other. But then you would have body types and preferences that could play a hand in the selection of the buyer so i don't think there is a fool proof way to getr done.
Just to be clear...they never sent me a thing, and were SUPER PISSED I got a set of sticks lol

I just wasn't aware it existed
Yeah the name on the tread isn't to good but not sure how I should word it so people understand what I'm trying to accomplish beings as I'm new and don't know who is who and it helps to put a face on things.

Personally I've come full circle, back to almost exactly where I started as far as gear goes. I'm concentrating on tactics, presets, and scouting at this point in time. MY goal now is to shoot more deer, not get my kit to 5lbs....People here and their opinions have helped me refocus and as much as playing with gear is fun(this is coming from a serious gearhead!!!!) there is still and end goal in hunting...and its not to get up the tree faster and lighter....

My $.02 for what its worth.

I've had similar thoughts recently. I think I got too obsessed with gear and tinkering and not focusing on actually finding deer and preparing properly. Scouting and working on getting permission on private spots will payoff more than a slightly lighter platform or stick. You've still go to be in the right spot. If I had a wall of antler I might think otherwise, but I don't.

Some new products have inherent safety issues. The people and companies testing these products are not being honest or addressing safety issues.

This is worrisome. I’ve seen a lot of discussion about products not meeting build quality for the price point or the hype, but this is the first time I have seen anyone say the products didn’t meet safety design specs and there was a cover-up of these failures during testing.

At least one product was well known to fail at height, and the manufacturer would not replace them until they inevitably broke. A gen2 revision was silently released to address the issue, but customers were not contacted or informed.

What is interesting to me about this is that the patent describes the referenced platform as a "tree stand platform assembly."

Now, I know...use a safety harness when using any tree stand, right. But, if treestands were breaking like those platforms reportedly were, consequences likely would have been worse. The expectation of saddlehunter users to tether in before weighting the platform probably saved lives, and possibly a company.

But that's just an assumption I suppose.

Wow I feel like I've missed a lot of subtle and perhaps not so subtle information here about some pretty well known and marketed products. I would think if the platform I believe is being referenced was that unsafe, people would have come out in spades about this for the sake of doing what is right. For the life of me, besides the Mantis I used to own (which I did think was a decent saddle) There have not been any specific saddle products I have purchased and used that I would say were horrible or unsafe. I didn't like the Mantis for me because I felt like it was just not rigid enough for my taste and what I like in a saddle. But I never felt like it wasn't safe. That goes for climbing systems and platforms for me too. All the homegrown or "cottage industry" saddle gear that has evolved in my experience has been pretty good and certainly safe. Am I missing something??
