Public land etiquette

How long do you want to play these stupid games?
This guy is using Canadian definitions. Suspect.

And as an adult that is well past my 20s and 30s, I'm fully capable of making grown up decisions, and living with them. There comes a point in a man's life where maybe they grab the bull by the horns so to speak.

In this particular circumstance, your "cautions" and "what ifs" are falling on deaf ears.

I decided a while ago that I was kind of sick and tired of lazy sob's littering up the woods, and I would always, ALWAYS come out with something I didn't take in.

Every year for 5 years I would also go to the state lands that I like to hunt every spring, with a couple of large garbage bags in tow, and fill them up with the thrown out beer cans and bottles, pizza boxes, fast food bags and candy wrappers. Should I have left them too?

Your animosity towards me is amazing. I share the same sentiment as you about preserving nature, and said so much from the beginning.

I don't presume to alter the path of anyone, of any age. But I feel that folks should consider legalities and their understanding and conformance thereof.

Can you please share why it's a better course of action to remove tree stands by one's accord rather than by direction of authorities? That may clear it up.

Litter: trash, wastepaper, or garbage lying scattered about
Trash: things that are no longer useful or wanted and that have been thrown away
Garbage: discarded or useless material
Discarded: to get rid of especially as useless or unwanted

Beer cans, bottles, pizza boxes, etc fit those definitions so they'd be fine to haul away. Tree stands don't fit those definitions so they shouldn't be taken.

I'd be surprised if any states expressly allowed the public to freely take tree stands they found in management areas. I'm not a lawyer obviously but that doesn't really seem congruent with criminal law. I've seen enough episodes of Cops to know thieves don't get to tell the police, "it's all good bro I just found it on the street" :D

This is Louisiana since I happen to be familiar with the regs there but the implication is that it's the authority of state officers to remove stands from management areas.
"Deer stands may not be left on WMAs unless the stands are: Removed from trees. Placed flat on the ground. Left in a non-hunting position (a non-hunting position is one in which a hunter could not hunt from the stand in its present position). Legibly tagged with the user’s name, address, phone number and LDWF ID number. All portable stands, blinds, tripods, etc. found unattended in a hunting position, not placed flat on the ground, or untagged will be confiscated and disposed of by LDWF"

This thread is so far off the rails lol. Not sure how we expect the general public hunting public land to get along if we can’t even do it on a forum of the shared interests. If you aren’t the law you pry shouldn’t act like it, you call them in. Some people suck; a majority of them are great. Talk to them and I suspect you’ll feel the same. We let too many one off spots influence large numbers of people.

You can be sure the deer know where his stand is and avoid it. It's a shame people behave like that. You are the better man.

Last time I checked I unfortunately pay a boat load of taxes
A portion of those taxes Goto state land and federal

it’s public land
No one can claim a spot for the season
He’s a clown

typically if I see a brand new stand during the season I figured he’d blow the deer out anyway and try to find where he’d push the deer too
