What rope are you guys using to pull your rappel rope out of the tree? What connection do you tie to the end? Do the thin ropes do well when the rappel rope gets stuck or in a small bind?

I am new to rappelling but going to try out amsteel with hopes that it won’t tangle as much as my paracord. Locked brummel on both ends and hooked right into the delta link

7/64 amsteel with soft shackle on one end, loop on the other. I have small carabiner on the tether right behind the delta link.

I picked up some 5mm accessory cord. Doesn’t stretch like paracord. I just tied a loop on one end and I haven’t had any problems since. I had many moments of cussing at trying to pull down with paracord. Then it snapped one time and I had to click back up and down to retrieve my rope.

Thanks all. This is what I’m trying to avoid by using the Amsteel

I would definitely pick up something stronger. Something without stretch. Not sure the cost of Amsteel. I got off pretty cheaply at my local climbing shop.

This happened to me the last time I was hunting. I leave my paracord attached to my climbing line loop and didn't pay attention to how it was when I pushed the rope up with my electrical conduit rope pusher pole. When I pulled the line it cinched around the loop and the standing rope. This tree was very straight and fairly smooth so I was able to flick the climbing rope to get it down. Anything can happen when climbing. Making sure the unexpected is not dangerous is key.
