PVC strap-on "nub"

I'm thinking of trying a "nub" instead of a "step" for a strap on platform that augments a LW Assasin or LW hand climber seat as the actual platform. As such, this would not be the primary for standing but for extra footwork.

I'll be doing it out of sections of PVC pipe. It's was hard for me to draw arcs in skechup so my "drawing is with "square pipe" but you get the idea  The slot would be where the straps feed through. The stubby cylindrical shape is wide and thus stable with the added benefit of not being prone to impaling thyself with...

Yes.

Unlike the "paws", not angle cut, lower profile and with "teeth".

I really liked hunting with climb paws as my top step. The problem with the paws (4 on a strap) is the bulk. There's not a good way to carry them in with you and they take up way too much room in a pack.

So you would actually be standing on the curved portion of the pipe right? And is it still going to have 4 "spikes" for gripping the tree? I'm having a little bit of a hard time visualizing it. Have you ever seen the homemade climbpaws out of pvc?

Yes on the 4 spikes. I have seen the DIY paws and I do like them.

I'm actually on a LW hand clmber seat that I am using both to climb and as my platform. This "nub" is just something for my foot to grab to help me steer. It will be on the other side of the LW platform. As a matter of fact, I am finding that I need to keep most of my weight on the LW platform to keep it stable to the tree with good bite and that I need that nub to put my boot UNDER to pull myself around the tree so I do not put too much sideways torque on the LW hand climber seat platform.

Clear as mud?
