Roll-up pouch location on saddle

I just build my own roll-up pouch today (it’s posted over in the DIY forum on the clone thread). I attached it to my Tethrd Phantom, and was surprised at how far ‘back’ it was. And I think I realized this was an over-arching question for me from even when I was using dump pouches. With the construction of the saddle, the attachment loops don’t start until my side/outer hip, so anything that gets attached is practically ‘behind’ me.

I’m not that girthy of a guy - size 36 jeans and all. I just imagined things being more accessible at my side (especially a roll-up pouch for one stick rope), and I seem to recall seeing guys with the roll-up pouch more to their ‘side’. Mine is over my back right butt cheek… Too far back to comfortably re-bundle the rope into. Not impossible, just uncomfortable to twist that far around.

Do I have something wrong?

I am a 32 waist and have experienced the same issue. I use the vertical hanging rope pouches for my climbing/rappel rope and still have to twist a bit to get it back in the bag.

I had the issue so I hooked the rear of my pouch in the first molle loop and used a big zip tie to hook the front on to the top of my bridge loop brings it right onto my side and below my lineman’s loops Works nice that way
