So, I got in a bad habit of just tossing my tether to the ground when about to descend. My dump pouch couldn't hold my standard predator rope that came with my Kestrel........so i just toss it.

Well......of course I lost it.

Came across some rope that seems like it would work for a tether........but I have no idea what it is.

Anyone know?

Can I use this as a tether? What about a linesmans belt? It's more rigid than the predator rope....... so I feel like it would work better as a linesmans belt than the predator rope I'm using.

Sorry to have to give a link.......but my pics on my phone camera are apparently more than the site can handle.

Thanks in advance for the insight.

I wouldn’t use mystery rope. If you knew it was climbing rope but not the manufacturer I would say use it but not knowing if it was climbing rope I would say order now and have safe rope by this weekend.

X2.
Plus age, history, how it was stored, in contact with any chemicals? Spend 20 at a local outdoor retailer and buys some good static line.

Thanks guys. I'll hit REI and get something tomorrow before my weekend trip.

Anyone familiar with what they carry and have a recommendation?

They should at least have a selection of sterling and mammut- Probably 10-11mm. They'll have cordollette by the foot as well if you need a Prussik loop to go with it.

Still trying to work through this. The only rope REI sells by the foot is this:

Rated at 28.5 kn. This is sufficient for my tether, correct?

The problem is that they don't appear to sell anything to make my Prussik loop.

Any suggestions as to how I can make this work?

I do have the linesman's belt from my Kestrel, which I suppose I could repurpose for my tether, and use the mystery rope for my linesmans belt. I still don't have a way to adjust the length of the belt.

Any thoughts? I have plenty of Amsteel if that would be of any help.

Thought about one of these, but they sure don't seem like they're as stout as what I'm accustomed to. What is the rating on this, compared to say, the predator rope that came with my Kestrel?
I’ve never used it but it comes recommended by people I trust. I currently use 1” tubular webbing.

That rope is fine. They dont have standard cordollette?(6 or 7mm?) Thats a big surprise...
