Looking to get a ring of steps as an alternative platform for my set up. I don’t sit all day much and if I do I will always take my platform. I have never used them so I am looking for some advice on what brand and attachment method. Also if you have any for sale I will most likely be interested.

I liked using my ameristeps with an ocb. I also have a pile of them for sale.

If you’re snooping the classifieds you’ll see API Skyhook steps pop up from time to time. They are more or less the same as Squirrel Steps just no longer in production, but I love mine.

If you feel like you'll ever be in a situation where you'll use steps in conjunction with a platform, you may want to look into EWOs S3s. They can be used as a regular ROS, or be installed individually on a strap.

I feel like steps and a platform would be the best of both worlds. Anybody else try that ??

I used from 1-4 SS with my Predator last season. Yes does give you the best of both. On my private land presets I install Cranford screw ins around the tree leaving a space for the Predator.

I see a lot people saying steps are uncomfortable. I’m sure there is some truth to that just by looking at them but I’m curious if a lot of that talk is exaggerated or not?

I have the bullman outdoors steps and squirrel steps. I've got 2 hours on either before my feet kill me. Some other folks will hang out in crocs and ROS on a full day sit. I got a solo combined with squirrel steps for this year, comfy for leaning, and steps to rotate around the tree when needed.

If f you are a sitter steps are great. They require more practice to make the transition from a treestand compared to a pivot style platform but no more than the average archer should be practicing anyway.

I started with ameristeps. They worked great but are bulky. I then switched to sky hooks and really like them. They aren’t as stable on the tree as ameristeps but they are good enough and fit in a dump pouch. I need to order some squirrel steps.

To me the pivot style platforms excel on weird setups like leaning trees and trees with so many limbs you can’t really walk around a ros.

Awesome thanks for all the information. I will take every ounce I can get. As long as I can get them super tight and solid to the tree I’ll be set

I have 5 Ameristeps on a strap with OCB. I did a mod on mine (pictures on another post from about a year ago) which helps them not slide around on the tree. I don't have any comfort issues at all. I think boots with a solid sole "steel shank" make a huge difference. And also, I have most of my weight on the saddle so the steps are more for stability and moving around the tree. Not quite sitting, not quite standing. I don't see myself ever going to a platform.
