Let's see what everyone is doing for comfortable saddle clothing. What's out there specifically made for saddle hunting or are you modding your own stuff? I'm located in northwest Indiana, warm early season, cold later.

Man I am on the hunt for the thinnest, lightest, coolest, long sleeve cotton t-shirt that can be had. I need to wear a long sleeve even though I’ll likely be hunting in 95+ degree weather because I need to soak it in permitherine because chiggers and ticks will eat me alive if I don’t.

Anyone know of one?

Not cotton, but pretty lightweight and good quality.

I have one of these. These are like wearing a plastic tent. They are “breathable” but if the wind isn’t blowing you are simply 90% covered in plastic. That’s why I’m looking for a thin cotton that will absorb the permitherine.

@Cajunshooter - Try one of these. It breathes extremely well and won’t hold a ton of sweat like a cotton shirt will. And it’s pretreated with insect shield, which is a permanent application of permethrin. I bought two this Spring and I’ve been wearing them the last couple of weeks brush-busting and swamp-slinking to check trail cams in 90+ degree weather sweating like a dog. For durability they’re about as thin as I’d want to go for a warm weather hunting shirt, and they’re extremely breathable.

Hunting in Florida, we have almost identical conditions. It’s often above 90 and the chiggers, gnats and ticks will carry you away. I ended up getting the red head grid lite pants and shirt from bass pro. They aren’t as plastic like as normal stay dry clothing so they breath better, but still dry up the sweat better than cotton. I treat them with permitherine the day before I plan on going, let them dry out and it keeps the ticks and chiggers off. Thermocell for the sand gnats and mosquitoes…. They have the grid lite clothes in a couple of camo patterns, true timber Strata and HTC green…

I live in southeast GA and I was on the hunt for one last year. I ended up with some Black Ovis merino off camofire. Best hot weather shirts I've found. Hot weather and cotton don't mix from what I've found.

I’m going to have to take a look at these.

Man I have been wearing cotton T-shirts and shorts all summer long my entire life. Yes the cotton absorbs the sweat but it’s much more breathable and cool than plastic. The real key to it is going to be how thin it is. They now make some extremely thin cotton T-shirts that I really like. I don’t think I can get a long with wool.

I like the simple long sleeve cotton T's from Rothco I get them in smokey branch and tiger stripe camo.

Oh man.... No search results for "spaddle pant". Do I dare ask?
When bling was more active and really showing SH his goods I was trying to get the sewing gurus to make him some pants with linesman's loops and a bridge built in.... Stupid joke

The dry quick wicking material definitely isn't all the same.... During the heat I wear either regular old Hanes dryfit shirts or academy brand equivalent, fishing/river short/pants. Liner sock and some sort of wicking socks if I'm wearing shoes other than my crocs. Permethrin treated the day prior. I know starting each hunt I'm gonna soak thru all my clothes so the quick drying aspect is what I look for the most. If I take a break for lunch at the truck and lay my clothes out across the hood of the truck they will usually be dry in 15 minutes

I understand what you're saying but the difference is night and day. It's not wool like you're thinking. It's a lightweight, breathable fabric. I started wearing it last year and will not wear anything else in the heat.

This is what I've been wearing. Looks like they have a good deal going on right now too.

I hear you! I’ve hear quite a few people say this but it just gives me the heebygeebies just thinking about it. I’m not saying this is the case but in the past people have told me how comfortable wool is, then I try it and cannot stand to be close to it. I’ll have to build up some courage to try this, but the only long sleeve Blackovis seem to have is a crew neck. I absolutely don’t want that either.

If you've ever worn Under Armor synthetic blend clothing, the stuff that's like their moisture wicking cotton, it feels almost exactly the same. This is the long sleeve stuff I wear. There's a reason all of the high performance clothing lines (First Lite, KUIU, etc) have gone to merino base layers.

It does not itch at all, once you sweat it stays cool, and it doesn't stink (at all). Even in our climate, I can get away with wearing it a few times without washing.

I absolutely guarantee if you go with lightweight merino wool of decent quality you will never look back. I started with socks and now everything I can get my hands on that makes sense is merino. First Lite Wick quarter zip was priceless last early season in TX. When it got colder, I had my mid weight merino base, then threw the quarter zip on top and picked whichever jacket and pants made most sense. I’ve got merino underwear, warm weather socks, cold weather socks, pants, a beanie, base layers, and my wife started buying me non hunting T-shirts for kicking it when it’s blazing hot here. It’s not cheap, but if you look for deals every penny is well spent. Just make sure you take care of it and it’ll last a while as well. For socks, Darn Tough and Farm to Feet are both local companies and they offer lifetime guarantees.

Okay guys you’ve got me thinking hard. I just might have to try it.
