Saddle Hunting Backpack

I too have the X2. I also have the Pop up 28 from Mystery Ranch.

The X2 carries 4 sticks and a predator platform very nicely and quietly for me. Plenty of room for your preferred tools of the trade.

Which of the 2 do you prefer. I’m torn between the 2 right now. Gonna be carrying 4 beast sticks and either a Predator platform or an M7 treestand

I just watched a video were the hunter used the Eberlestock X2 Pack.

It looks nice, but it's a bit pricey.

There are comments that it fits very small.
Can anyone chime in on this pack?

And/Or what pack do you use?
I just ordered a Badlands Superday pack. Supposed to get it by tomorrow. I carry a pistol and this pack has on-belt pocket.

You weren't asking me but, I just sold the X2 to my father. I absolutely loved the pack and think it is as close to a perfect pack as I have found for saddle hunting, if you are 5'10" or shorter. The frame is too short IMO if you are taller then that. I really tried to make it work but, 1.5 hours into a hike with 20lbs and my shoulders we're killing me. I can't compare the pop-up 28 as it won't be here until Tuesday.

Ug. Just got my X2 last night that I got on sale last week, and the FIRST thing I said when I put it on my back was "geeze, this seems short on my back." For reference, I am just over 6ft. I am gonna give it a try, but definitely feeling less than optimistic... was hoping the hunt for the "perfect" backpack was over.

I am right around 5’11-6’

I'm 6' tall but I have a long torso. Watch the pack fitting video on eberlestock's website. If I measure my torso according to their instructions, it measures 21". The pack is several inches too short for me.

I just ordered the Badlands Diablo Dos, originally recieved the B.Lands Timber but just not what I was looking for. I one stick up with Knaider, and Swaider then Rep down. I like going up with everything in one trip. The Timber just wasn't a good fit with the rifle boot, so I went with the bigger Diablo 2.

I just got in a a new pack, the Venture 1800 from Kuiu. Was looking for a better pocket layout and lighter weight than the pack I have been using but also one with enough volume to packout most deer in one trip. Havent hunted with it yet but I think this pack is going to work very well. Bag layout is exactly what I wanted and the strapping configuration flexibility is crazy. Will update after getting it loaded up and hunting with it a bit.

Years ago I bought the Eblerstock J107 and it was great for the short hunts...4-600 yards (private land). Then I went on a camping trip where that 107 felt like 107lbs. Horrible. So I sold it and went to Kifaru. I bought the duplex frame from Kifaru, guide lid, and the nomad pack. The duplex frame I bought new the cargo panel. Sold the panel and the nomad pack...now I wish I hadn't. Found the woodsman and bought the cargo net.
Used this combo to carry everything...hangon stand, sticks and everything that you can imagine. Felt like I was back in the Marine Corps humping to go fight Sadaam again.

Fast forward to now my saddle hunting saga...I drank the cool aid and sold all but one of my climbing, and hang on stands. Bought the pop-up 28 too. The pop-up 28 is great for early season and mid season...but when the temperatures drop below 40 degrees, I need more clothes. My first lite gear will ride in the pop up 28 with all my things I carry. However the kifaru carries it so much better and it will compact into a smaller profile. With the kifaru it can expand to 4000cubic inches and go down to almost nothing. I may look for the nomad pack again and sell my pop-up 28...who knows.

How much u wanna sell for

Not ready to sell yet...Let me finish out the season. I paid 279.00 for it new...It has been with me on every hunt and in fact I just took it out of service for my kifaru for the late season. It got blood on it and is stained...when I'm ready to sell it will be for around 200.00...as is. I'll post it in the classifieds when or if I find a pack to replace it.

I like the X2 better. I tried to like the Pop Up due to the internal frame. My preference is to have my pack on my right when in a tree.

I can easily store gear I will use in my saddle in top pouch of X2 and side pocket as well.

Pop Up has potential but needs tweaking to lash everything neatly to the pack.

I carry 4 sticks which neatly stash 2 sticks per wing on each side. I can close the wings done then add predator platform on it without anything rubbing into each other.

Late season clothes all fit neatly into the pack and are easily accessible while in my saddle.

Just curious, how tall are you?

Vario frame with the meat shelf. I have the 33 size and day pack. I can fit everything on there and haul meet out miles. The day pack is can be carry on its on with out the frame which is great

Just got an older model realtree super day pack. I think it’s going to be too much pack for what I need.

Not sure why I keep torturing myself by thinking a bigger pack is needed.

Any updates on your opinion of this pack? Really considering it.
