Hey guys, just wondering your thoughts. From time to time I have ideas for improvements or things I would like to see the saddle companies come out with. One of my ideas is that, I love the sys haulers from Tethrd, but with my ropes I like having the option of a wider and especially a deeper pouch for my rope management. I am already using a dump pouch I purchased on Ebay that met my needs, but I do love the mesh bag like the sys hauler, I would love to see Tethrd offer this option in the future. What's on your wish list???

I would love a backpack made by saddlehunters, for saddlehunters. I recognize this is very subjective, but the saddlehunting lifestyle tends to be minimalist with need to carry small platform and either sticks or WE Steps and a few other basics, and seeing so many threads on backpacks... I see this as a true need.

There could be a second option for a saddlehunting pack for those who carry out meat as well.

I contacted Badland Backpacts to do just that. Their Pursuit pack is the best for saddle hunters and WE steps. However they need some changes

@Gr33n Arrow ,the backpack idea had crossed my mind too, I mainly use bolts, but on certain occasions I use beast sticks, I currently transport them true minimalist style with a Vanguard pioneer pack, the smallest one they have(960 I think),I dont even carry anything else in the pack, it's for the sticks only. I like this pack because it rides higher on your back and when your walking, with the weight of the sticks, it isn't hitting your saddle in the back and pushing it down while walking in, this pack had the flaps on the back to secure them which is a must, also it needs some sort of foam covered or rubber brackets, 2 of them to hold stack of 2 sticks side by side, so you can put the sticks in the bracket quick, buckle the straps, put on the pack and go.

What I want seems unobtainable so far. 20" or 24" climbing sticks that fold in half for easier carrying, with hawk helium style folding double stepps, while maintaining slightly over 2 lbs or less each. And for the same price as Heliums!

As @boyne bowhunter video shows, a turkey vest can be handy for carrying sticks, steps etc. I would love to see a new saddle hunter carrying system based on the turkey vest concept. It should work with sticks and stepps, with a pocket for platforms built in as well to keep everything tight and quiet. A built in pad for wrapping around the tree to eliminate knee pads would be great. The other pockets should be sized for our use instead of cramming things into a tight call pocket.

Along the lines of a vest, a good option to look at are light tactical vests. They have molle out the wazoo, most also are made to attached to the riggers belt or tactical modular belts, so these vests can double up as suspension for saddles as well. Molle latch hooks can hold your bridge tight to your body as well. I realize they aren't tailored to hunting being they dont have camo patterns but I'm not a camo guy anyway.. I like my gear tight, compact, and minimalist. Plus most of the gear attachments for saddles are molle anyway. As far as backpacks go, I use the miltec small assault pack, itll hold 5-7 we steps(packed right) and still has room to carry a little extra gear.. military gear can be expensive but these two items would run you about 60-70$ total for both.... 61MY5NLxuML._SX425_.jpg7206-b.jpg

I would like to see a webbing or strap style tether come out similar to what the Guido's web had only lower profile and without the goofy bridge. I think it would roll up pretty tight and take up hardly any room.

I would say adjustable webbing bridge but we have that now.

saddle with a load bearing waistband in it that can support more weight for gear instead of pulling it down. Kind of like a battle belt but way less bulky and integrated into the saddle. Would definately help with carrying a pistol on the hip.

I'd like to see a backpack that could hold my SRT line in a way that I could deploy it without taking the pack off. Same goes for WE steps.

Forgot to mention some sort of fold out cam over type steps that I could supplement my platform with. Like you have your platform with these tiny step platforms at 45 degrees on each side. Probably be 2-3" wide, maybe 1.5 inches deep. Just enough to get some grip and have a quick foot support to pull the shot off. They would go onto your platform rope/strap, push them down and cam them over. Should tighten them up along with adding a little more tension to the platform. Been trying to think of a good design on those for a while when I have time.

I'd like to see a minimalist backpack frame designed for hauling sticks. Something that was measured in ounces, and just had a few pockets for the minimalist gear I carry, bit that was also robust enough to pack out a deer when the time came.

I'd want to be able to retrieve sticks one at a time from the frame, without having to take it off my back. Just walk up to the tree and start climbing, like I do with my bolts.

Man I had this same idea a while back. Only reason I didn't make this is because I found a kifaru bag I liked and went with that instead. My plan for the pack your are talking about was going to be built with an Alice frame and Alice frame shelf. I was going to attach a rigid molle sheet to the frame and attach pouches on one side for the gear I needed and stick talons on the other. Top it off with 3 strap kits that kifaru makes so I could haul a meat bag if needed.. I think it would have worked great. I just don't really use sticks much anymore

Getting ready to make the Wraptor saddle and was thinking about making a separate waist belt and suspending the Wraptor from that. I would put the lineman loops and molle loops on that and wear it at/around normal hip height. Could make it beefier like a battle belt which would easily carry gear and sidearm. Then the saddle would suspend from that. Could even make the Wraptor slings so they collapse up into the bottom of the belt and made secure for walking. Not as minimalist for sure.

Murph and nutter, something similar to this? I’ve got a waist belt that will be here Monday to finish this up. Once I get the belt on it will pack out deer.

Yeah my idea was very similar to that on a Alice frame
