Saddle Platform/Climber...Next Big Secret...?

can you make that bracket and arm detachable? or atleast make the base piece a bolt in piece(U-Bolts or a bracket) and then utilize a pin for the hinge bolt rather than an actual bolt? This way if you don't need to cam it down you wouldn't have to and if you decided too you could just carry the post and pin in your backpack.

Most people know i'm a fan of the hand climber, but to me it is just another tool. I'm a planner ( post season scouting) and 99% of the time i know where i'm going. So on private i use screw ins for presets. Public land i use the hand climber for limbless trees and cranford rope ons with ameristep ROS for limbed trees. I don't like carrying sticks especially on a mtb. Now for the 1% of the time i "run n gun" or whatever it's called, I will take the 10 rope ons and the hand climber. If the tree i want is limbless, i climb with the LWHC. If it has limbs, i use the rope ons and use the HC as the platform.
I bring this up for the people who prefer platforms and want to be able to climb any tree, any time, anywhere. It all packs up nice.
I don't see my " Adrena Mod" bolt mod done in some of these pics. Come on guys, get with the times! Hahaha

I have been spreading the word about the bolt for you buddy. Game changer in my book. I do like the bracket he has made however giving the option of a platform post for camming the stand in place without having to kneel down and hook up a ratchet or OCB strap
Yea i think it's slick too. Somebody did that a while back, could have been him. I don't strap the HC anymore unless the tree is smoooooth or i just want too. It is solid as a rock when strapped though.
Also i reached out to Lone wolf maybe last year and they weren't interested at the moment. I'm sure companies are watching and something is in the mix.

I would imagine someone would come out with a small lightweight climbing/strap on platform system for saddle hunting soon.

Yeah. I was actually coming to find this thread to warn of that exact thing. I asked specifically because it wasn't totally clear from the picture and he replied that the metal broke where the holes had been drilled for the bolts.

The orginal post is a great question/request for saddle hunting..I've been a summit treestand climber for 20 years.....I tired just using the bottom of my summit last week in a practice climb but without success.....to difficult...the Lone Wolf hand climber looks good but I hope someone comes up with a climber...that with my treesaddle would winner for me...loving my saddle...first time using a saddle this year...very comfortable and versatile...this is a great forum!!!!

Why was it too difficult to climb using the bottom of your summit? I used the bottom of my old climber, using the saddle with tether rope as the "top". It works, but I'd a little slow moving the rope up.

I'm using the JX3.. it was doable but kinda awkward...and I would need to practice alot more for next season.....and I'm new to the whole saddle hunting as well...

My guess is that with a climber platform, your feet are too far away from the tree. When climbing with just your tether, your feet should be about arms length from the tree so that you can push away from the tree and pull your feet up. Whereas with an unmodified climber bottom, your feet would essentially be climber top piece depth + arms length from the tree.
This doesn't seem like that big of a deal until you try it and realize that you can't get the proper separation from the tree to pull your feet up smoothly and quietly.
That's where the bolt mod comes in. It changes the angle and gives the needed clearance.
