So what's the lowdown on hunting the area adjacent to the camp? Can you just walk across the campground to hunt it? Or do you have to drive to a check in/parking area? I'm leaning towards hunting close to camp, since it looks fine on a topo and I'm not bringing my truck.

Hey guys I have a local guide hunter who has some Intel on pigs. He's willing to take 4 hunters out Friday morning at daylight. $25 per hunter.

First 4 to pipe up have the spots.

Yes. I'm going to have multiple "guides" available throughout the weekend. Speak up now if you'd like to get in with a guide. We'll keep it at 3-4 per guide but they'd like to make $100 per day.

To me, $25-$35 bucks for local Intel is a no brainer.

I believe all you have to do is check in to that area and have a shotgun since its a shotgun area

There are lots of pigs near camp. Lots. Pigs move a lot so the key is finding fresh sign and camping out, or covering ground until you bump into them. Both tactics will work. All of my pig kills have been while deer hunting from a saddle. I've passed more than I've shot. I've killed maybe 8-10 in 3 years (2 years really because I didn't hunt fort stewart that much this year) and passed 10-15 more. Usually because I didn't want the hassle of dragging them out.

you can walk right from camp - last year a guy rode his Quiet Kat into it but it's close enough to walk

I'm in if any one else wants a guide Saturday or Sunday. prefer Saturday. What's the schedule for event, demos, raffles and DINNER. Saturday

I've tried ground pounding a few times and never had any luck.

which is funny - Dan and I were into pigs in the archery sections last year 2 hunts in a row by following sign. Got within 20 yards twice before it went south. We found a huge wallow and tons of fresh sign and just kept at it until we crossed paths with them. Dan promises to bring his release this year ;)

Random question, does anyone know the regulations/rules on 4 wheelers? Might be nice for some of those hard to reach spots but I have a feeling they will NOT be allowed.

Confirmed, cannot without specific authorization from the Game Warden, and only typically approved for folks with disabilities.

I'd be willing to pay $25 just for a set of good GPS Coordinates of an area I should look at. Maybe one of the guides would be willing to help me out with that. Easy money for them so long as its current activity in that area

Only piggy's I saw last year was via ground and pound, I'm not sure who said it last year "stalk slowly into the wind" but I spent a whole afternoon doing just that, I was solo, so maybe my brother was making too much noise the other times, but I had a brief chance at 2 piggies. Interesting how they don't move until you almost step on them and man they are fast, looking forward to getting into the piggies again this year!!!

That's usually my plan. Find a long transition between swamp and woods. They'll either be just inside the thick stuff, or just outside. Gotta have some wind, 'cause you're gonna reek of DEET and sweat. Move slow, but cover ground. A sounder with piglets or shoats is practically deaf and blind compared to a deer. You can just put a tree in between and slow-walk right up on 'em.
