Not sure if it makes a difference, but when you tie your scaffold knot onto the delta link does it matter which end of the triangle it end up? Does it matter if it's on the single end or should it be in the middle of the other two corners ?

i tie it with the rope as far from the gate as possible (which means far corner) and when in use as a tether i point the gate upward

Thanks man, I just wasn't sure if made a difference. I see the point of having it as far from the gate possible. I also always make sure my gate is pointed upwards. I will make sure I slide my knot to the other side. Appreciate the info.

One thing I have noticed is a hard pendulum swing on my set up. The way the knot is dressed, the triangle seems to rotate as to not be flat against tree. Im not sure if this causes hazardous loading but it does make it hard using a ros because of how much it wants to pull me back to original position and causes me to swing back. Just something to consider when cinching your knot on the triangle and maybe a little backyard test wouldnt be a bad idea.

i'm not even sure how my triangle is on the tree, i'll pay attention

these steel quick links are so massively strong, that i'm not worried about much with them...so long as they are screwed down reasonably tight and i'm careful about keeping the rope inside them

how not to highline on youtube tested them and they had a hard time breaking them....they are much stronger than their rating (not sure why they don't rate them higher)

i'm using a 9 mm stainless steel delta link, the stainless is stronger than the usual galvanized

My Delta link doesn't lay flat against the tree either, it kinda rotates out a bit. I really haven't haven't had any issues with it wanting to swing me back. I'm going to see if when I switch my knot to the other far corner if that doesn't help it lay flat against the tree.

Anyone have any issue with the screwgate getting jammed where it's tough to operate?

Never had that happen. Is something best outta place? I put bow wax on all my biner threads.

I have when my safety OCD gets to me and I try to tighten it while I have my weight on it. Same thing with my screw lock carabiners. When I tighten when weighted then it feels 'on a bind' when I try to unscrew it when unweighted. I guess it is just the mild flex of the metal and allowing you to screw it a little deeper and then the metal snaps back.

Maybe some antiseize or silicone based string wax on the threads might help? It's something you can easily remove if you don't like it later.

I've been thinking of picking up a delta link for the top end of my tether but the possibility of the screwgate jamming caused me to second guess the idea. I certainly don't want to have to pack a wrench with me.

i've never gotten stuck....it just feels weird and is more difficult to unscrew

I had that same issue with my Delta quick link when I first got. I was working fine when I received it but after my first practice in my yard I wasn't able to open or close it without using a wrench. I think that I must not have had the gate closed all the way tight and my weight caused it to get a little off track. I returned it and got a new one . I always make sure now that I have the gate closed tight now and I haven't had any more issues.

I think I'm going to stick a crescent wrench or vice-grips in my bino bag or somewhere else on my gear, just in case my delta link gets stuck. Probably dot on some mineral oil as well to keep things moving right.

I always carry a back up knife. These leatherman's have pliers and a locking blade knife you could even gut with. I might pick one up myself.

I've used a delta link on my tether for 2 seasons (going into 3rd) and I've never came close to having one so stuck that I couldn't get it unstuck by hand. I don't crazy tighten it though and at height when I check its tightness I only snug it a tad just to reassure myself that it's fine (not necessary since I can see the threads are covered....but you get bored).
