I have been using screw ins exclusively for a while, usually I take in 20 to the tree I'm setting up in with a rubber hammer to get them started and on my way up.At the top where I stand I use 4steps around the tree at the same level so have 360 shooting.when I leave I take the bottom 4/5 out so nobody sees my set up..I have learned all this from Mr Eberhart thru his videos and find it to be a no brainer..You can set numerous trees pre season and nothing to set up the day of the hunt and less your taking in the woods..Another reason I like the steps is deer can't make them out unlike the traditional ladders we always see in the woods that stick out from 100yds!...The steps can get pricy but at sportsmans guide you can get 25 for 46$ And potentially set 2 trees with that amount..

I agree, I do the same thing except I end up using more steps to setup a tree. I will end up using around 25 total for a tree. Usually about 18 on the way up, 5 or 6 around the tree, 1 to hang my bag on, 1 turned upside down just about eye level to keep my strap from sliding down the tree.

Most of my spots I don't even bother taking out the bottom steps because they blend in really well. I have had a 1 tree where someone stole all of my spikes and another tree where they took the bottom 2 but then got too tired and gave up.

For anyone who uses screw in steps I would strongly recommend using one of these tools to put them in http://www.treesteptool.com/. It is a life changing product.

Unfortunately you can't use screw in steps everywhere :( .
