Took the Kestrel out for the second time. Stayed out for an hour and a half, took the new Hawk Helium Sticks out, learned quite a lot.

The Kestrel gets an A+. Adjusted the bridge to around 26 inches. The sit was fantastic.

Put the Ropeman 1 on linesman belt. So much easier to adjust. I’m seriously thinking about putting my other Ropeman on the tree strap. Makes length adjustment a snap. Ropeman 1 gets an A+.

Hawk Helium Sticks are also top line. They make climbing VERY easy. Another A+.

The post oaks and cottonwoods I’ll be climbing here in Oklahoma are making my WE Stepps a big pain. The coarse bark is not made for the WE Stepps. These steps are well made but I’m having a hard time with them on these trees. Can only give them a C due to this. They just won’t cam and stick well enough to stay safe. Not usable as a step or for a platform.

The good thing is I’ve ordered a Predator Platform.

All in all I’m enjoying this method. Can’t wait for October!

Good deal. I’m new to it also but I’ve learned a ton from this site and seat time. I also got my bridge down to about 27” myself. It’s hard to grab much time between work and family but I get an hour here or there to work on getting in saddle shape. An additional Ropeman on the tether is the business. Make it effortless to go from sitting to leaning and back in just a second with minimal movement.

Most of my time sitting now is seeing how still I can be in the saddle. The swinging and walking around the tree is fun but killing is all about being stealthy.

Great to hear. It took me till my 4th practice sit to be totally comfortable. I was really doubting myself the first two sits, and i was a mess gear/ coordination wise. Now i have a system down and am so comfortable physically and mentally. Practice is key.

It gets easier the more you practice. I have every thing I’m gonna take with the exception of my bow in my pack. I practice taking it out quietly and climbing up the tree. I’m way more comfy in a saddle then a stand. And I believe the reason is I know i can’t fall once my tether is set. There’s no slack like if I’m in my Summit. It’s. Great feeling to be so comfortable in the tree.

It’s funny about heights because of the discomfort some feel up in the air.

Thirty plus years ago in college I worked in a furniture warehouse using lifts that went up to thirty feet. We were tethered in on the lift as we picked furniture down from the racks.

The more often you do something the more comfortable you get. Sitting in the tree tethered reminds me of those days.

The view is fantastic!
