Shooting from a saddle

Hi guys. I'm new to saddle hunting. Been practicing setting up in my saddle and making necessary adjustments. Tried to shoot my bow from the saddle the other day and noticed that my string at full draw was hitting my bridge. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for the help.

Welcome! The string hitting the bridge is probably something as simple as lowering your tether and decreasing the angle to your bridge. Just play around different tether heights until you get it right.

What boy are you shooting? compound, trad? Sitting, leaning? Watch your anchor point. It's eazy to draw downward like your leaning and change your anchor point.

Sorry. Shooting a compound. I was leaning when I tried it the other day

Welcome from Northern Virginia. See this post:

When I first started saddle hunting I set my platform about one foot off the ground and practiced every conceivable shot and saddle combination, configuration, orientation etc I could dream up. Being so close to the ground increased my saddle time and frequency of shots. Once I got the basics worked out I did the same Process at various heights. Putting in the time really pays off - when you’re in the heat of the moment you want to be focused on the deer and choosing your moment to draw and shoot. Keep up the good work of practicing!

@MikeA good on you for practicing from your saddle before the season. Clock is ticking. I'm sure you'll have this all sorted out before you hit the woods. It will take a while to get everything sorted out. Eventually you'll settle on exactly where you want your tether on the tree - nose height, hairline height, etc., how long you want your bridge, sit vs lean, all that good stuff.
