I’m on the market for a new pack. I want something with a slim profile that I can attach my platform and sticks to. I really like the look and features of the fanatic pack, but I have searched all over the internet, and I can’t find much information on it. Does anyone here use the fanatic? If so are you able to strap a platform/sticks on the outside? TIA

I would say it would be hard to attach the sticks and platform, it does not have any type of frame so there is no rigidity, its about like a burlap bag with pockets. If you have it stuffed with a coat or something you could probably strap one or the other to it but not both. I think the tool box or bucket would work better for strapping.

I do not think the Fanatic would be a good choice at all for this purpose. I actually think that bag is fairly useless in general. It's like a cotton sack.

This is pretty much true, i use mine on public ground and the fact that i usually have a jacket it in helps.

I also have and love my fanatic pack. Its not a pack for carrying heavy weight long distances but its super quiet, light, well thoughtout and a great size. If your looking for a pack to carry big weight ling distance, this isnt the one.

sticks or a bag of WE stepps fit in the frontand strap tight. A predator will fit inside in the hydration pouch area.

Thanks for all the replies, and pics. So those of you that do have one, how wide is the inside of the pack?

Im not saying you can’t use it but there are much better packs for the job he wants to do. I’ve had my sticks slide down with those straps. If i put coveralls and jacket in the pack to put on at stand and sticks on the outside there is no room to carry a ridge runner. But i could see if you put the predator platform in the water bottle pocket how that would give id some rigidity and create space to carry sticks on the back.

I really like the fanatic pack but its main purpose for me is to stay quiet. I like the compartments and organization inside and out but it wouldn't be great as an equipment hauler like a pack with a frame would have. For my purpose I really like it.

Mountain Archery actually has the Tool Box for $125.99 shipped if you use the code MTNLOYALTY

Love mine. It doesnt get used for heavy loads because of the lack of hip belt and load lifters and frame. But the predator fits great inside, it has ample room for layers, is way quieter than my other packs, and will still carry sticks or a bow on back. After a couple miles your shoulders will feel moderate loads more than a frame pack for sure, but you just have to pick and choose on some things.

Been eyeing this pack, and I’m curious in thoughts on how it’d be both in the rain and in hotter weather? Would it be a horrible idea to wear it for a half-mile walk in the upper 70s? And how does it fare in a steady drizzle?

I ran this pack most of last year using 4 lone wolf full-length sticks and a LWCG ambush platform. I really like it! I generally walk roughly 1/4-3/4 mile into where I have to go and I usually put the Ambush on using the buckles on the front (similar to the picture above) and then I bought a shotgun sling to carry my sticks with. So when I walk in my pack isn't overly loaded, I have my bow in my right hand/over my shoulder with the bow sling, and then my sticks over my left shoulder, etc... I have done it where I put my sticks on like the person above did and it works well too, I just prefer to carry the sticks over my shoulder with the shotgun/rifle sling :)

As far as drizzle, this pack would be fine... It seems to be made out of the same material that the fanatic jacket and bibs are made out of and in my experience then nothing on the inside has gotten wet. If you're in actual rain for any amount of time or in a drizzle for an all-day sit then the pack might gain some weight depending on the time of exposure to the elements etc. I've sat on days where it snowed most of the time and never had an issue and I was happy with how it performed in wet/moist conditions.

I will say that if you overload the weight in this pack then it can pull on your shoulders and be uncomfortable, so just keep that in mind. Not a deal-breaker for me and my purpose/use.

Every piece of gear serves a purpose for the individual using it so you just have to decide what your goal with the pack is and go from there...
Many people go wrong by trying to be cheap and not spend the money on different packs for different purposes but to get the best in all situations then that seems to be the best way to go.

For me, the goal was to be quiet and be organized, and this pack excel's highly at that and I won't be switching anytime soon.

God bless :)

Hey Beej32,
Justinredig sums things up pretty well and I will be using this pack again in 2020, it really fit my needs well. This said, and by nature of the berber fleece, it is hotter than many packs I've used. In New England this isn't a big deal but if I were in a warmer climate that would be a strike against it. Good luck!

John
