Slings or runners to climb

Anyone use climbing slings or runners girth hitched on the tree to climb vs sticks / steps?
I did it for a while. It's still my backup method and I keep one in my pocket for emergency. It worked fine but it took forever to climb. I'd rather climb one stick with an aider to save weight.

Did you use your top tie in and one runner or did you use two runners then tie in at the top?

It really depends upon the tree, your harness and the length of your bridge. When it is all just right, it isn't too hard.
