Well, my parts came in early. So I put it together. It’s raining now, so I’ll have to wait to test it on a tree. I’m still thinking about the design... your input is welcome. And yes, I should have been careful to center the batwing hole! How embarrassing.:flushed:

I left more length on the bottom of the original bracket so I can put a piece on angle (iron or aluminum) across left to right under the platform. This would provide lateral support (which I’m not sure I need anyway). More importantly, it would give me some insurance against brittle fracture of the cast aluminum in cold temperatures. I’m not an engineer, so I don’t know if that is a real concern or not. But I typically hunt several days a year in single digit temps. I know metals become more brittle when cold.57820BE5-B221-40AF-AB6A-D38E5C926C63.jpegA912152B-7F4E-4BB6-8718-15ADFC58161C.jpeg1FA6709C-88D4-4638-91F6-4D3D8DD9BE09.jpeg2E7C5E79-B7E2-47FD-8A54-879F74973047.jpegF39E1ACD-9CEA-4BDE-866D-E2ACDD0425D5.jpeg

Thanks Slomo! I don’t know how you discovered that wheelchair foot rest, but it fits perfectly! And I saw the video comparison. Nice job on both and it’s very encouraging that you like this version best.

What's the final weight? I built one using the camming method. I think its around 3.5lb. I'll double check though

Mine was a little over 3lb .9 oz without the ratchet. FYI ,Those wings on the inside corners are great for placing your foot while making a shot. I thought they might not work but because of the angle but its perfect . This stand does not move so sideloading is not an issue. For this reason I like the ratcheting system better. Can`t wait .

You might need to change a mounting point or something. Did you try the ratchet strap at different levels ?

My buddy machined me up a post. Solid although the platform swings up and down almost too easy so I’m going to try and file down where the platform mounts to the post and then put a couple plastic washers in there to stiffen it up

I bolted a piece of thin aluminum angle on the bottom as a support. I rachet strapped it onto a tree in the rain to test it. Solid as a rock! I’m not going to even try the cam strap method. This will meet my needs very well. I weighed it using an old bathroom scale. Just over 3 pounds (without the strap). I’ll put some rattle can camo on it when it quits raining.10D03512-4A22-4107-A343-F71716166293.jpeg4402111C-6E07-4423-9BB4-612A69650FC2.jpeg

Take a look at Danos build, #7, #25, in thread. Post is 1.25 inch, xop brackets are 1.25 inch. Tried to load pictures with tape measure, but my picture files were too big.
Right, the XOP brackets are 1.25", that is what I used and they fit perfectly on a 1.25" tubing. Like I noted above, it makes sense to file down the platform a bit to squeeze some nylon washers in there on either side of the bolt. As it is it swings to easy IMO, but there isnt quite enough room to squeeze in the washers without filing it down a bit. Tightens it right up so that way if i let go of the platform while setting it, it doesnt slam down on the post.

Wanted to follow up after having a couple test hangs with this platform. Its solid as a rock with side pressure, the cam lock really gets it tight. My entire platform with strap weighs in at just under 4lbs. Pretty slick option if you are on a budget and cant/dont want to pay for the predator. I noted it above but the entire build costs right about $60.

Did you machine that Alum square stock? Or have it done? I'd be interested in buying one. I made a copy of your set up except mine is all steel (all parts free though). It weights a ton. Looking into going Alum.

My buddy works at a machine shop and whipped it up for me after work in a couple hours. I originally built mine with just regular 1.25" square aluminum tubing which works just fine too
