Southern Swamps

Is that a coastal creek? Around here those small finger creeks will have high banks on either side from the tides and deer bed on them a lot..... The powerline road looks like it can give u easy access to the transition lines that run E to W.... Id walk each 1 of those hard transitions and explore as much as possible... Mark the high ground now when the waters low and then u know where to look during archery when the water is high

I am hoping to get out there for a couple hours this weekend and dropping some pins and taking some pictures

I would actually hunt here...the river has a lot of bends in it and the winds will swirl around like crazy. Almost looks like there is a small creek here that is on 3 different habbitat..swamp pine and palmetto and some scrub oak, so likely dry land and a nice little cove....far away from the rest of you crazies! Keeping in mind your private land statement, there appears to be some really good soft transitions where there would be a pine or palmetto clearing going to the thick stuff just south of the creek bank. That would be another area of interest for me4B63C6CE-3027-47BD-9F53-6696CE9DFFC7.jpeg

I bet you that area you circled is under water come September.

Pretty much everything north of the yellow line will be wet or under water during season.... I do not mind a little bit if a slog as long as I can find a dry tree base.... I do not want to have to try to keep gear dry when I am climbing or defending..... I may pack a small tarp.....

If it is truly an open cypress swamp, with good visibility, I would say the best beds are located on the south side of the big creek, facing the open cypress swamp, with their backs to the creek. They can see anything coming through the open cypress swamp, but have their backs to the big creek. The further west you go, the better. I didn't read the posts very well but I think you said the property to the North was a golf course, I would say that, that is where they are feeding. On a North wind they will have sat there all day, with the wind and creek at their back, looking out over the open cypress area. I would also say that this is a pretty tough place to hunt, if accessing through the cypress swamp. However, if you could access it from the river, climb up a tree close to the river but close to where they are bedding you could potentially get several sits out of it. That fist transition in to the cypress appears to have some roads around it. Most hunters hunt the first transition, fewer hunt the second transition, and almost none hunt the third transition. I try to find that second and third transition.
