Sport Climbers Aluminum Climbing Spikes

After much consideration, I've come to the sad conclusion that my idea of using Sport Climbers as the ultimate light weight, fast solution to getting up a tree is not for me. I've determined that I would need to do one of two things for this option to work for me.

1. Turn back the clock on about 10 years of my life. (can't happen)
2. Turn back my weight about 40-50 lbs. (probably won't happen)

That being said, I have two pair of Sport Climbers. I will sell either pair for $45 TYD or both pair for $80 TYD.
I will also consider trades.

I honestly wish these worked better. Many of us on this site fell into the trap when the sport climbers first came out many years ago. I hate to see others waste hard earned money and be disappointed.

No way you would break the bank. But your ankles and maybe an arm?? They'd likely be broken. Just sayin'

Forgive my ignorance but, how are these any different than spurs? After some brief searching they look the same?

From a basic standpoint these are similar to most climbing spurs. The difference is the weight. In an effort to reduce weight, SportClimbers are constructed of fairly lightweight aluminum and made shorter that heavier spurs. They also don't use heavy leather uppers which firmly attach them to your leg. I've climbed trees with these without problems. However heavy boots are recommended and you have to take extra caution to cinch them tightly. If they were taller and had better padding and a more substantial upper to attach to your leg, they would be perfect as they certainly provide the most lightweight option to climb a tree.
