Spur Strap Suggestions

Hey guys,

I recently got my first set of spurs. I got a set of Buckingham spurs, with Weaver Super Climber pads. It was immediately apparent that the straps, specifically the noisy metal fasteners, will need to be replaced.

Anyone have any suggestions as to what you're using for straps? Something that's available on Amazon would be great, but I'm open to all suggestions. Ease of use takes precedence over weight for me, if that makes a difference.

Thanks for the help!

The lower straps are the most important. If they get loose you will get into real danger and trouble.

I’ve tried the plastic buckles and the t hooks and all of them failed and got loose. so
I went overkill. I literally use my extra hawk helium straps and then I stealth stripped the buckles. Are they heavier than most? Yep! But they are better and safer for me and they stay tight. Also they are easy to put on when I’m in the saddle. I loosen them to take them off and then to put them on I just slip my toe thru the loop and cinch right.

i use a strap on mine very similar to EricS on top The bottoms are some that I made out of the Dayglo material that we make dog collars out of.Cinches up like factory straps but is much lighter and more flexible. We climb a lot and most guys do not wear their hooks very tight top or bottom. It will just make your feet go to sleep or hurt.Just tight enough to hold them in place.Use a boot with a heel to climb in and they will help a lot with them moving on ya

Thanks for the input guys.

I have a strap that came with a climbing stand to secure the climber to the tree once at height. It's a strap that has a toothed clasp that you pull the strap through, but can't pull through in the opposite direction unless you squeeze it and open the teeth.

Anyone use something similar to that?

I haven't had a chance to even get up a tree with them yet, but the factory straps seem like a real chore to use.

For those of you that have taken steps to quiet your factory straps, what have you done? Just stealth strips?

On the factory bottom straps I wrapped the split ring in vet wrap. The metal buckle I wrapped in electric tape. It’s quiet enough for me.

The straps that I'm referring to are called lashing straps I guess.

I see some online that are made out of webbing, and claim 600 lb limit, with a break strength of 1100 lbs.

Anyone have any thoughts on whether using these would be a good solution?
