I recently started using xop hand climber as my climbing method and platform. I use an ocb to stabilize it and an aider to do this. Since I use my rappel line as my tether I was thinking I could rappel down a few feet to attach the buckle and use a foot ascender to get back up to the platform. Also if the spot has a lot of deer activity I could rappel down leave the platform and use the foot ascender for srt along with my eye to eye prusik. Never done any srt just looking for some advice or potential problems before buy the foot ascender.

Hitches shouldnt be used by themselves in srt climbing, i use a rope wrench with my friction hitch but thats only for tree work. Theres too much weight on the friction hitch makes it bind up and its very hard to release. Youre much better off climbing the rads method for your setup. What are you using to descend?

I’m using an atc sport. I ordered the ct foot ascender as I firgured wouldn’t be a bad invest either way

It would be easier to use a rads setup for what you want to do, However if you bought a rope wrench or hitch hiker system to go with your hitch then youd be golden, ascend, descend, position all off the same system and no crossover between atc and hitch.
