I can see the continuous loop working for DRT since you are using 75’ of rope but not for SRT with just 40’ of rope. I think the method I described above will work, but I need to rest it. Keychain biners are cheap. I don’t mind replacing them every year if I need to.

What are y’all looking for as an attachment point in the tree? A large limb? Crotch?

I throw my line over any limb that is at the right height. I then girth hitch the entire tree with my climbing line (Oplux) by routing tag end around the tree before passing it through my loop and raising it up the tree.

Same. Never girth hitched a limb, always the central leader (main trunk).
