String cost rant.

I just ordered a new string and cable set from Catfish through my local archery shop, $150!! However, they will install the cable and string and move all of my add-ons from the factory string over to the new string and paper tune it so that adds value to the purchase.

I am going to give Achery Shack a try for my two sons. My youngest shoots a Dimond Atomic and most strings are more than the bow.

I put the Archery Shack strings on my son’s Diamond Atomic today. The string looks okay but the serving is extremely thick and will take a while to settle in. The cables barely fit over the buttons. Not really important but the peep saver was on the wrong side. After those two items the strings seem okay. Next week I’m putting a set on a Chill SDX.

Archery Shack update: I won’t buy another set. They are okay for the price but the two set have started to fuzz with about 75 shots. I am not totally sure but I think they are a 24 strand build. Should be durable but thicker in diameter. Either way I will be moving on, or I guess back to catfish customs.

I had a shop gouge me for $300, when I didn't know any better. Needless to say they didn't want me around.
I've had strings for $70 to $100 from a better shop.

I’m due for a new string on my compound and really wish I had the tools and knowledge to do the string swap myself.
